Official Android thread

grabbed a ROM built from AOSP for toro Galaxy Nexus. Restoring everything now.

I REALLY hope that performance is improved…

Nexus users are babies. They are pissed they don’t have 4.3 yet. Google rolls it out in phases, they can’t seems to understand that.

well my verizon gnex update will probably be 6 months behind, if it ever arrives. Aint nobody got time for that. My phone is HORRIBLY slow these days, so I’ve been waiting for this update to AT LEAST do a wipe, but figured new ROM + wipe should at least give me short-term better performance.

Whenever my S3 got buggy I would do a factory reset. I’m guessing my N4 should have 4.3 next week.

Toro already has a rom out for 4.3 using the official source build. I’m running MIUI rom on mine (installed through Goo Manager) and the battery life drastically improved, performance is also pretty solid.

when ever google puts out a new nexus most of the development is done on that nexus so any new version of android will not be optimizes for previous nexus. The same thing happened with the nexus S when they released ISC for it, it got really slow because they focused on the Galaxy Nexus. The same thing is happening now with the Galaxy Nexus.

I tried doing a factory reset on my girlfriends Galaxy nexus and it didnt do a thing so I would not expect it to change with 4.3

see post above. I’m running that ROM now.

There are some things that just strike me as odd. I am convinced there was/is a bug in 4.2.2 that is causing lousy I/O. It was a drastic change from 4.1->4.2.2. Even people with Nexus 7’s were complaining about 4.2.2. Some people finger pointed the hardware, saying it is degredation in the storage. Others pointing fingers at garbage collection or other bugs in the OS.

I hear ya either way. I am just trying to do what I can to extend the life of my device another few months into the fall. Then I will decide what my next device will be.

As I mentioned before I’m eligible in August for an upgrade…Looking possible at the new Maxx for battery life.

I dont buy the hardware degridation because people said if they flash back to 4.1 it not slow. I/O problems maybe but I also doubt that

Yes exactly. Like I said, I’m not sure if it will pan out but I’m trying anyway

Finished tough mudder today, and when I got home I had my Google chromecast waiting for me!

Now if I only had the energy to get off my couch now haha

I messed with it a bit but then had to pack them.

I’m bringing them to Blackhat/Defcon hopefully we can hack on them this week.

Maybe a little smb or samba support

I’m not overwhelmingly convinced that this has completely turned around my device’s performance, but 4.3 does seem to be a marginal improvement… It’s bearable.

Got 4.3, cant tell a difference from 4.2
