Official Android thread

sometimes mine takes awhile to locate me depending on my surroundings (buildings, etc) have you given it time to locate you? sometimes mine takes upwards of a few minutes.

Nexus one now has Multitouch!!!

Eat that, Apple.

and why does the droid not have this enabled through a OTA update then?

^Referring to multitouch or GPS?

Never had a problem with my GPS finding me, every time I pop up maps it finds me pretty quickly.

Still would like a change to the Nav though, so it gets interrupted when you get a voice call, instead of trying to talk over it, lol.

Because updates for Droid has to be brewed and pushed by Verizon.

I meant the app… LOL. Did you buy the Speed Hud app?

OHHHH lol. I can’t remember if it was $.99 or free.
It worked fine on the way to work today. :gotme:

Ok. I didn’t want to buy it if I could have gotten it for free, but yeah it’s .99. It asked me for my CC though. I felt like that was sketchy.

Proof?

Video demo:

Multitouch in this case is the “Pinch-to-zoom” feature.

Don’t know if its been posted but the bluff my call apps are sick and hilarious. Pretty much you can pick and number and it shows up on the called persons id.

That…is…glorious!

Now all they need to do is get this bish for Verizon

the droid is multi-touch capable as well. there just aren’t many programs that utilize it to my knowledge, except for dolphin browser. download it and check it out.

It’s a good browser, I definitely like it, been using it since I got my Droid.

I just got a cliq, its so hard to use :frowning:
It synched my facebook contacts with my regular phone book so now i have like 540 people in my phonebook :frowning:

good news and bad news for droid users

good: motorola announced that there is going to be and update to 2.1 this week

bad: the update for droid is reported to be nothing like the NEXUS ONE OS. NO LIVE WALLPAPERS, NO 3D CUBE APP DRAWER, NO 5 HOMESCREENS.

doesnt the nexus one have the better processor? That may be good news it may drag the phone down if it got them. I think i have decided Im leaving blackberry when it comes to big red.

that kinda sucks…did everybody notice the update to maps this weekend brought pinch to zoom support and night mode in nav (Haven’t tried the latter yet)?

I also tried out PDAnet for the first time yesterday to tether. Super simple and works great.

Love the pinch to zoom on the maps now, however it does not work while using navigation. To be honest, the maps are really the only thing I cared to use it for. Having it in web pages would be nice without getting another browser app but I’m fine without it. 95% of the time the double tap is all thats needed.

Still waiting for the Verizon version…nom nom nom.
