That is insane, I can see an extra charge for 4g but verizon lets people with the shitty pre use it as a hotspot. I hope they allow the incredible to do it when android 2.2 launches.

yeah for some reason its a free feature for pre, doesnt make sense to me but its true.

yeah it was the first things they discussed. Alot of OTA stuff coming after froyo gets released. Engadget should have the breakdown of announcements. Pushing applications to your phone seems really cool, they have a site for the marketplace and you will be able to push applications to all your android devices They also made it sound like the mobile hotspot feature would be free. seems like they are giving people reasons to not root unlike apple giving people excuses to jailbreak. I really love this company

Yeah its pretty amazing. Sure glad I’m not one of those people that are looking forward to an upgrade that allows me to multi task and create folders.

so i am very jealous that the nexus one is already getting 2.2 just days after it was released, this is how all updates should be done cause sadly i am probably going to have to wait 6 months for 2.2 on the droid. the next phone i get is going to be a google phone if they keep doing updates like this

I think that google’s goal is to (afterr 2.2), be able to do OTA updates from google themselves, not from manufacturers. This is why they have been seperating a lot of their apps from the core OS.

I got an advance look at Google’s latest treat for Android phones, Android 2.2 (more deliciously known as Froyo) on the Nexus One. Announced this morning at Google I/O in San Francisco, the update will initially be available to Motorola Droid and Nexus One owners in June.
