froyo was released via OTA update to the nexus one already. HTC says they are hoping to have 2.2 out for all new android phones by Q3.
Seriously with froyo they are getting rid of any urge I have to root my device. The biggets issue I was holding out for the evo was wifi hotspot, then I saw if I rooted there was an app for it. Now froyo will let me do it as a standard feature, as long as big red doesnt fuck it up. Android is pretty damn awesome as far as giving users what they want. Now if only this forum worked well with my netbook again.

yep yep…saw that it has been rooted already. very happy about that.
I really dont think im going to bother rooting unless they have some insane app that i cant have otherwise. Froyo just seems too good of an upgrade to want anything more.
yeah, so far it’s looking that way… i just hope vzw doesnt gimp us somehow

See I understand the purpose of jailbreaking the iPhone but the droid seems much more flexible. I guess I haven’t run into a customization or app that I needed/wanted that bad.
me either…I’m not rooted anymore. Even when I WAS rooted, I didn’t do anything with it.
the only reason i would root an android phone is to get a new update ie. 2.2 before the official one is released from the manufacturer
