I’m excited for Froyo!!
Got my droid x today, pretty fucking cool phone. Debating on whether or not to root it as it voids the warranty and the phone is a whole 7 hours old
I’d say hold off for a month or so…dick around with it and see what you think.
Yea I’m thinking the same, I found a good video tutorial on how to do it and been reading a lot about it and a handful of people say to play around with it for a while so you can truly appreciate the change that rooting (and overclocking) makes.
I have the same though. I can’t wait to fix some of the verizon restrictions, but I’m going to wait a month or two to make sure the rooting is foolproof.
Found some cool live wallpapers… but others I was interested in I’d have to pay for and I can wait for now. Definitely eats more of the battery though. So far the phone is fun, have advanced task killer, battery status pro and a few games on it. One big reason I want to root is to get rid of shit like amazon mp3, skype mobile, blockbuster and some other useless shit on the phone that comes with it
Go on demonoid…they have a shit ton of apps/wallpapers and other shit for the droid phones
<UPDATE>
Original Droids will be getting the 2.2 update within the next week:

Bump!
Anyone with the original Droid get the update yet?
installing froyo now on my evo…had to wait until it was rooted
let me know how the battery life is? and did you root it and what not yourself?
Rephrase…Did anyone get the OTA 2.2 yet?
from what ive seen…people say battery life is improved.
yea i did the full root method a while back when it was released
Just downloaded Froyo on my EVO last night once it was released.
Here are my observations so far:
- New Flashlight app is cool
- Being able to flip horizontally clockwise or counter clockwise is a nice function
- Wifi and 3G reception has seemed to improve.
- The music player does not support WAV any longer. Typically not an issue for most buy my corporate Voice Mail system produces WAV files
- SMS Attachments are much better! Easier to quickly send a pic to someone.
I was just extremely happy that it did not break any of my apps already installed. The whole upgrade process was nice and easy.
my evo should be here tomorrow i wonder if it shipped with froyo
