Goodbye Storm. Hello Tour.
 Anyone else follow this?
Sprint: drumroll “After months of speculation and excitement, we are proud to announce the Palm Pre!”
Verizon: immediately after announcement "Yeah we’re going to have the Pre within the year.
Sprint: “No you won’t!”
Verizon: “Yes we will!”
…
Verizon: drumroll “After months of speculation and excitement, we are proud to announce the Blackberry Tour! Sign up to receive an email when it’s available!”
Sprint: simultaneously “We are proud to announce the Blackberry Tour! Sign up to receive an email when it’s available!”
Verizon: “Juat?! Feck!”

Still no date. Lame.
I posted this on CB, but I figured I’d run it by the people here…
I have a family plan with 4 lines. 2 are eligible for new phones with a discount (NE2, or whatever the promotion is).
I currently have a Storm that I ordered with my primary phone line. This is the only line with a data/BB plan.
Can I order a Tour online for one of the other lines and then activate the Tour on my primary line? I don’t want a data plan on any additional lines.
I understand that I’ll be using the upgrade credit for one of my lines and that if I need a new phone for that line in the near future, I will pay full retail. I’m OK with that. I just don’t want to run into problems with the data plan or activation.
Yes. Get the upgrade on the line that’s eligible. Once activated, switch to primary line. I do this all the time on my family plan.
Cool. That’s what CB guys said too
Yeah, but you gotta remember something :
Sprints corporate customer base is like, next to nothing. They really don’t sell many Blackberries… and the Tour is supposed to be marketed as a mid-to-high-end product. Somewhere between the new curve (supposedly “very consumer level”) and the Bold (supposedly “high end”).
Anyone have a Curve that they want to sell me? I should unload my Storm before the Tour comes in!
Pearl Flip is available on Verizon now.
So BB tethering. I have to upgrade from the $29.99 data plan to the $45 dollar plan right? Then I should be good to go?
So does this thing have anything the Bold doesn’t or is it just the CDMA answer?
fry, you will go from $30 to $60 for tethering.
I use this: http://www.tetherberry.com/
Works awesome. One time fee. No monthly fee crapola.
+1 for tetherberry, my phone feels like it has been on fire if i use it for a while but it works really great.
Sure enough. $30 to add tethering. How does tetherberry work? I don’t get how it’s a one time fee and not a service, or how Verizon hasn’t blocked it.
Probably against the terms of service.
One time fee to buy the program.
Probably won’t get caught unless you use like 10gb of data a month. I use 3+gb/mo legitimately, no tethering.
Exactly. Just don’t get silly with the bandwidth and Verizon will never catch on. It works with all current versions of Windows including Windows 7. I believe there is a Mac version either coming soon or in beta now.
The carrier knows you’re using data, but they have no idea if it’s going to your phone or passing thru to a laptop. Other than doing something dumb like downloading windows updates with it.
it’s against TOS, they could kill your phone if they figure it out…
just don’t abuse it and you won’t have a problem
word.
