If you like shrimp, try the Golden Ale Shrimp. They are one of my favorite menu items, and the sriracha aioli that comes with it is incredible.
As far as the beer goes, every employee had to do a 2 week beer school and score a 90% of higher on a 200+ question test to get hired, so they know their stuff. Of course they don’t remember everything they had to learn, but they are certainly more knowledgeable about beer than your average bar.
Also… Dogfish Head 120 will be on tap there soon… and Dogfish 60 will be on tap an upcoming Happy Hour list which they are implementing because us WNY’ers love happy hour.
world of beer was neat, but its definitely much more of a pub than it is a place like Brew Works - which is what I had in my head when I went. Obviously good selection on tap, the staff behind the bar is definitely better than the servers. Also, make sure to check your tab when you close out - they added 2 beers to mine that I didnt order. I probably wont go often or at all, because galleria, however im sure we will have a happy hour or two there.
So I had my first 2015 Goose Island Bourbon County Stout last night and was completely disappointed. The 2013 and 2014 are my all time favorite beers too. This year’s 2015 tastes exactly like last years Bourbon County Coffee Stout and I hate coffee and coffee flavored beers. It was so bad I must have checked the bottle 10 times to see if my buddy was just sold the wrong thing. The problem with that that NY didn’t get any of the special blends this year and even if they did there isn’t a coffee version for 2015.
I only have one 2014 saved. I plan to break it and my 2015 out over the holidays so I can compare. I know my tastes have change quite a bit since I last had the 2014 (got much more into IPAs) but I can’t believe the 2014 is going to taste anything like the 2015 I didn’t like at all last night.
First world problems and all, but I was really disappointed last night. Spent the whole day looking forward to that beer after my buddy told me he’d bring one over to crack open. BCS isn’t just a “oh I like that beer” beer to me. It’s my all time favorite. My 2014 is the only beer I have hidden in my workshop so it doesn’t accidentally get grabbed when I have people over. Heh.
I have a stash of 13 & 14. Didn’t buy the 15 since they decided not to properly ship to our market I will no longer support their efforts. Also there is better out there that is more available.
Grabbed some holiday brews. Picked up some GLB Christmas Ale and I was excited to get some again. It was excellent last year, but not so much this go round. It’s still drinkable. Also picked up some 21st Amendment Fire Side Chat. This was a surprise. Very good spiced Ale. I’d like to grab some Bell’s Christmas Ale next…
