***Official Healthy Eating Banter Thread***

Corn chips are at least gluten free, but junk food is still junk food. Maybe carrot and celery sticks? I stir it up with some meat for real creamy chicken salad.

Breakfast isn’t that important. Skip it if you don’t feel like eating. Eat it if you do. If you’re overweight you might want to try to get some protein down early, but otherwise meh. The bulletproof coffee thing is just something to play with. Not that important, just something to try.

lol I brought an awesome breakfast/lunch and then my eggs wouldn’t peel for shit so I wound up losing half of each to the shell and went to the cafeteria for more food. Damnit wouldn’t you know they had breakfast pizza? So being totally uncapable of moderation I had to get two big slices. Now I feel like a slug. Bad Fry!

No. :frowning: None.

so where in the world do you find kerrygold butter? wegmans doesnt seem to have it, nor feel-rite

edit: or is it known as irish butter…

No…I had 1 and a half. They were delicious. Also had 2 hard boiled eggs though. I don’t think I boiled them enough though. Had a cup of coffee with low fat half and half (usually I use skim milk) and no I’m drinking plain water.

Fucked up my knee yesterday at work so I skipped the gym. Definitely going today. Fry what type of drinks are acceptable. Usually when I’m at the bar I’m grabbin beers because they’re cheap and delicious.

Been doing some reading on Reddit - Dive into anything, Fry correct me if I’m wrong but from what I’ve heard most hard liquors are safe assuming it’s not the kind that’s mixed with obscene amounts of sugar. As far as mixers club soda with a slice of lemon seems like the popular suggestion. Also most wines are usually ok.

Also in for an answer to this.

My drink of choice when we started down this road in December:

Ice
One fresh squeezed lime
1T agave syrup (lots of controversy about this stuff)
tequila

all into a shaker.

Pour into pint glass having made enough to fill it about 2/3rds of the way up over ice. Fill the rest with club soda.

Awesome.

Beer’s full of gluten so skip that. Any clear booze (clear as in not cloudy, it doesn’t have to be colorless) is OK. Same rules for the mixers as during daylight hours.

Sorry, I should have mentioned it’s in the gourmet cheese section next to the tubes of goat cheese. Top shelf. But yeah Kerrygold is the brand, it’s Kerrygold irish butter.

Lentil chips are great in guacamole.

Kale chips with a little drizzle of EVOO and sea salt…mmmmmm.

I did my damndest to like kale chips. Made them ourselves. Seasoned them well. Still awful.

this. tastes like roasted asshole.

I am so in for Kale Chips then

this is coming from someone who doesnt dislike many foods but, om with you there too… I thought I was just buring them every time but nope, they just arent that desireable.

Now seaweed snacks on the other hand, are DELICIOUS!

Stopped at Wegmans on my lunch break to pick up some kerrygold butter, all they had left was salted -_-.

EDIT: Also found this website that looks like it could be useful. Basically just a listing of different types of paleo recipes.

http://paleofood.com/recipes.htm

:whatgives:

Good site for sure. Been there quite a few times for ideas.

So I’ve started on this paleo diet today, it’s interesting so far to say the least. One thing I’m noticing is that I don’t seem anywhere near as full after meals as I used to. Had 3 eggs, 3 slices of bacon a cup of coffee and a glass of water for breakfast and felt like I could probably eat more. Just finished a lunch of shredded chicken fajitas in lettuce wraps with broccoli, and I’m still a bit hungry.

I’d read about people who go on a paleo diet experiencing flu like symptoms for the first four days or so as your body goes into withdrawal from sugar/gluten, no adverse effects yet. Though even before this my sugar intake wasn’t that high, so we’ll see how it goes.

I can tell you officially that I’ve experienced my first ever “bad food” hangover… I still don’t feel right after having a really bad cheat day on Sunday (Pizza, homemade wings, and mixed drinks all afternoon). My energy level is in the toilet, my stomach feels off (I’m not feeling full after eating what I normally eat), and I just don’t feel right. Slowly feeling better as the week is going on though. Eating “good” for a month then having a MAJOR cheat day is a seriously BAD idea…

Note- no it’s not a stomach bug from uncooked food, as that part of me is working fine. LOL.

You definitely get less tolerant of junk food after you’ve been eating clean for a while.

Just saw on Twitter that there’s a shortage of Kerrygold right now at Wegmans due to bad weather in Ireland or something. If you want to try the butter in your coffee thing and can’t find kerrygold or another unsalted pastured butter just look for any european style unsalted butter. Presidente is one brand that comes to mind. European butter is higher in fat and still tastes awesome even if it might not be as healthy as butter from pastured cows.

Either is still way better than margarin. I can’t believe people still eat that chemical nonsense.

Saw they replied to Jeff. Went to the bar and drank a couple Vodka Cranberries and a mixed drink that tasted like liquefied lifesavers…Probably not the best paleo drinks to have. Next to try is vodka soda.
