Oh wow I had never heard of Paleo until now but have tended to keep to those ideals for the past few years while im cutting. Wish I could do it all the time but I just love pasta, couscous, and rice way too much. You guys are very strong willed to stick to lifestyle changes like this.
Right now I’ve been eating oatmeal for breakfast, which isn’t very paleo, but I still don’t think it’s a terrible choice. If I wake up early enough (I’m up at 5:30 every morning) I fry up some eggs, usually using butter but vegtable oil is good if you want the Denny’s or restaurant style scrambled eggs. I almost always drink just one cup of coffee all day, 1 spoon of sugar although I can drink it black. For lunch I have an orange and that’s it. Mainly because I’m poor, which also helps me avoid eating out. Then dinners we almost always have chicken, beef, steak, or pork. Almost always incorporate vegetables. For snacks Usually pistachios or some other kind of nut. I limit myself to just water after I finish my coffee in the morning. On occasion I add the Crystal Light packet in a cup.
My question was what if I’m baking something from scratch. Is it paleo, semi-paleo, or not paleo at all. I enjoy making these for breakfast cause you can grab a couple on the go:
lol this.
also the unavoidable late night slice of pizza is my weakness :ham:
ok so i just read this article and its got me thinking about what i could and should cut from my current diet.
so people who are knowladgeable in this subject feel free to give me advice
i usually skip any type of breakfast unless im for some reason famished where i feel like i cant get a good workout in (in that case i usually just eat a banana with mypre-workout) [9 times out of 10 i dont eat breakfast though]
mon/tues/thurs/fri are the days i hit the gym and after i come home and make a protein shake (silk unsweetened almond milk[30cal/serving] and 2 scoops of whey isolate) and usually have that with a bowl of cereal (one of the special k varieties) (approx 2pm)
from that point on im good for a while as i head into work but i do usually have ablack coffeein the mean time along with some diet green teaand LOTS of water (68 oz usually throughout the night)
then around 8pm i have a bag of instant brown rice(smothered in franks) with one chicken breast (tyson already cooked and seasoned frozen chicken breasts)
after an hour or so i have a banana
around 930/10 i usually have 3-4 egg whiteswith some unseasoned and unsalted natural veggie chips(and i suspect this is what people will tell me to cut)
at the end of my work shift i usually have an orange and/or an apple
ALSO if i snack at home after work ill have a serving or 2 of 75% reduced fat sharp cheddar cheese and reduced fat wheat thins
that is my typical daily routine barring any late night pizzai may encounter when i go out once in a blue moon…
After reading that, I’m very hungry… I usually have 3 meals involving some sort of meat (chicken beef fish) throughout the day…
Your plan looks very healthy though, that’s for sure. If I were to change ANYTHING, instead of the already cooked frozen breasts, buy fresh, and bake yourself… it seems the already cooked ones have a bit more sodium in there…
^^ on that note, I am no expert, not an amatuer or anything… just throwing in my 2 cents.
I guess it depends on what shift you work though, for some reason, when I’m on midnights, I eat a lot less, than I do when on days.
yeah i typically work 4pm-mid but i suspect that will change this month when i relocate to long beach
and yeah when im working overnights i eat a lot less
Myfitnesspal is my favorite app I have now to keep track of everything I eat

Bump to see how everyone’s been doing on their eating habits.
I started exercising a lot back around late June/early July, joined a boxing gym for two days a week and did insanity/distance running on the off days. In addition, I cut out pop entirely and switched to drinking only water/coffee, and incorporated a lot more meat/vegetables into my diet. Doing this I dropped from 205 to 175 and dropped from a 38 waist to a 32. Lately my days have looked something like this:
Breakfast: Two cups organic Trader Joe’s coffee, with 2oz kerrygold butter and 1 tablespoon MCT oil mixed in.
Lunch: White Rice (I know not ideal, but it’s cheap/gluten free and I’m on a budget), black beans, and ground beef or chicken with some peppers/onions and salsa
Dinner: Steak or chicken breast with roasted green vegetables and some form of potato
Snacks: Banana, almonds, green smoothie (spinach, apple, pineapple, carrot, cucumber, lemon juice)
I’ve been eating food.
Still same weight as senior year of high school.
I start cutting today.

holidays have stalled me a bit, but now that thats over ive been real strict on the diet and back to lifting.
Yep pretty much made January first my cut off for shit food…or at least cut down. I’m not going strict in diets like some aforementioned have, but generally sticking to better meals. Pretty much no fast food…hey you need some mighty every now and then. Leaner cuts of meat or turkey. More seafood which is very good for you, and I just ordered a bunch. More water, already switched to black coffee long ago. Just got back in the gym today and back on my lifting routine.

<EDIT> Last Christmas party is tonight…This will be number 11. FUCK CHRISTMAS
Midway cancelled all my backorders
I am fucking starving, all my mac’s are already hit, ughhhhhh
For anyone who uses a decent amount of Kerrygold in their cooking, I found a slightly lower priced alternative. BJ’s has nature’s best organic sweet cream butter, two 16 oz packs for 7 dollars. You get 4x as much for roughly 2x the price, I’ve tried it with bulletproof coffee and it tastes pretty good by comparison.
But is the BJs stuff from grass fed cows? Doubt it.
After going back and checking, you are correct sir, it is not. Looks like it’s back to Kerrygold for me after I finish off this stuff.

you can also go for that. Its $3.50 at wegmans
in other news, I love having an organic, cage free egg hookup at work!
gimme!
We work with a consultant that still has a milk man deliver milk to his house.
Funny, I just actually found out that a co-worker here does farm raised eggs too. Hopefully she gets back to me about getting some today so I can eat them this weekend.
