***Official Healthy Eating Banter Thread***

Nice. I’m down 16 from 2 months ago, and 28 from my high point a little over two years ago. 34 waist is now tough to keep on.

About 10 more to go, and more gym time.

Been incorporating (or trying to) more Paleo into my daily meals. Been eating oranges and kiwis for a “snack at work”. Drinking coffee then water throughout the day. Need to get rid of the grains in my house.

How tall are you?

I was a 32 at 165 lbs, 5’9, I’m at a 31 now at 152-155

dropped 15 lbs in a little over a month on paleo with very little exercise. wanted to be able to definitely say it was the food and not the running. been bouncing between 12-15 lbs for a week or two now, work travel kind of messed it up a bit. My goal was 20 lbs by the time i leave for Jamaica in April… shouldnt be an issue.

Think I’m gonna get more restrictive with the calories and see what happens. I know I should get back in the gym to work on muscle and increase caloric output at this point, but its so nice to go home, play with the puppy, and sit on the couch, drink wine and relax.

edit: as added reference I was running 30 miles/week, eating “healthy”, cut out beer except for a few on the weekends and couldnt drop a pound.

I hate being hungry but it’s not too hard to go light during the day when I know I’m going to get to mow down a big dinner.

Dropped 9 lbs since September (lulz) without changing anything in diet. Doing that now though. was 199 in sept now 190 w/ less body fat. If im down to 180 by June I should be cool with it

Dropped about 5 lbs trying to eat more paleo. Drink coffee with one sugar (I make it at home), Then I drink water, sometimes with the crystal light bullshits in them. Stopped eating out (mainly for financial reasons), eat a ton more fruit than I used to. For lunches I usually eat just oranges and kiwis or something of that nature.

I’ve struggled with removing sugars from my diet…I enjoy fruit way more than vegetables…but eating TONS of fruit can become counter-productive due to the natural sugars in fruits…I have been trying to eat a plain salad with lunch each day and have been chowing on carrots with hummus as snacks when I get hunger pains between meals. down to 207 from 215 in 3-3.5wks now. lost about an inch in my waist. REALLY trying to get under 200lbs by may 1st.

Pssh go up there so I have some sort of accountability for getting my ass there. I try to only drink water when I can. I used to get pepsi or coke anytime I’d eat fastfood or whatever, now I’m forcing myself to get water.

Also I need your recipe for that stir fry you made a while back.

You wanna be 180 by May 1st instead? I’m not sure what you’re schedule is like but when I’m a week away from hitting the beach, I’ll do about 4 hours a cardio a day and eat nothing but plain chicken and those bags of frozen veggies for a 1$ at wegmans. Almost guaranteed to lose 3 pounds a day.

4 hours of cardio you say!?!? If you don’t have a tablet, get one, sit on a bike and watch a couple movies using WIFI

decided to count calories this week… fuck.

for breakfast: 3 full eggs,1 egg white + 1 slice of american cheese and a glass of milk+ serving of Carnation breakfast essentials…
then, after my crossfit session: 8oz of milk with 2 scoops of BSN Synthia 6 protein shake.
Total calories = ~1000.

HOLY FUCK. I consume 1000 calories before 8am. I never realized this, and I always felt like I was eating light.

I also consume ~200 grams of protein in a day, this comes from: whey protein powder, steak and fish (tilapia)

edit: I’m 185lbs, tonight I flat benched 275lbs, 3 sets of 4, and then 2 sets 8 reps @ 225lbs
followed by 80lb dumbell incline bench 3 sets of 8

I will never in my life be down to 180lbs ever again. My frame is simply too large, I also have some surgical history that would result in me looking super wierd without a decent amount of bulk on me. I would be extremely happy between 195 and 200lbs…I also fucking love the shit out of food and cannot live on just chicken and frozen veggies. I love bacon, peanut butter, pizza, meat, cheese, and bison dip.

hit my goal of 20 lbs before my vacation on april 12th. prior to trying paleo I was running 30 miles a week and eating the “SAD” version of “healthy”. Couldnt lose a pound. Switched to paleo, stopped running, dropped 20 lbs in 2 months.

Nice job sir! How closely are you following paleo? What’s your average day look like? Tips?

Now that I have free time, I really want to start eating better and working out.

I don’t want to bother with research, I’d rather just have someone tell me what to do. So tell me.

Pretty close. we follow “paleo” more than eating “primal” though, so I still drink coffee and will enjoy a couple bottle of wine over the week. I cut dairy out completely, save for butter.

I was doing 2 eggs, scrambled, with ground flax seed mixed it, cooked with butter, 2 strips of bacon for breakfast. 2+ cups of bulletproof butter, using coconut nectar for sweetener.

lunch is normally a chicken breast or pork chop (leftover beef is there is some) and veggies.

Dinner is more meat and veggies. cooked with butter. mmmm butter. sweet potatoes & butternut squash normally make an appearance once a week.

lately ive been following fry’s lead, being very calorie restrictive during the day and eating till im satisfied at night. I still have to watch that, as I have a tendency to eat fast. Its a lot easier than I though, took a day or so to adjust.

So now, its cup of coffee w/butter at home before leaving, mug of coffee w/butter at work (both with maybe a tblspoon of coconut nectar), 1 fried egg around 1030-11 that I bring in and reheat, half or 1 full avacado around noon, depending on how I feel, half a chicken breast and some veggies for lunch around 2-230, might have an apple (depending) between 5-6, dinner between 6-8. Might have a couple dates in there after dinner too.

edit: we buy free range eggs from a guy at work who has like 60 chickens at home. wild caught fish maybe once a week, and grass fed beef when we can. shit can get pricey. I’ve moved from buying most of my meat from wegmans to buying from a local butcher, and now im looking at farmers markets and co-ops.

Eat real food. thats really eat. If a 5th grader wouldnt know what one of the ingredients is, its probably best to stay away from it. Avoid processed crap.

If man made it, don’t eat it. Lift heavy shit. Go for a walk out in the sun. Target 8-9 hours of sleep a night. Don’t sweat small stuff, and it’s all small stuff. Live to 100. Leave a legacy.
