What the crap.
My phone is deleting any contact I add when I sync it w/ exchange server. I have to add them in outlook. How do I stop this crap? I can’t find the setting, it is fucking annoying.
Are you using mail for exchange or some oddball program? On a full resync make sure your contacts sync settings page is set to “keep items on phone”. If it’s doing it just on normal all day syncing it’s probably the second page of settings (it’s a general exchange setting) where it says “In case of conflict” and set it to “phone wins.” Those are my guesses…
hrm, I never would have set it that way, but apparently I did…
:picard:
We will see what happens.
Can’t find the “In case of conflict” but this should help I think
Hey Fry, you’d love the Facebook functions on the N900. Live scrolling updates, requests, alerts and the messages merge right into conversations via text and IM / Facebook IM. And no silly app needed - the full blown Facebook website works exactly like on a computer.
(not my phone)
It has actually pushed me to start using my Facebook account more frequently.
i was playing with one of these yesterday here… its a serious phone.
Now that Maemo has the additional Intel resources, could become a contender. Hopefully. As of this moment Windows Phone 7 is the OS to beat for my next purchase.
It’s actually going around that N900 users will be able to use / test MeeGo on their phones in the next few months. Should be interesting.
Sweet. They’ll never dent the US market until they sign with carriers though…unlocked phones are still too niched and expensive
Wow Nokia, way to introduce new phones that are exactly the same as your old phones.

The E5 has the exact same specs as the E72, and the C6 is the same as the N97 mini.

yay double post, huge lag between typing and display. The fuck did you guys do to this site?
I guess I should grant that the E5 has 29 days worth of standby battery life. :jawdrop:
we just put you on miserable, no biggie
It’s working. :2fingers:
I do kind of want the E5. Looks like it’s just an E72 with a monster battery life. S60 3.2. 600mhz processor. 5mp cam. 3.5mm audio jack. Same form/size. Supposedly beefed up social networking support. $245 predicted retail price. I may replace my shitty AT&T fucked up e71x with this unless it’s so cheap because it’s made of plastic and play dough.
The ones just announced are entry to mid level phones, so don’t be surprised when they don’t include world changing features.
What they need is a flagship E series for me to get excited. In the mean time, my N900 is awesome. The Maemo comunity has been doing some cool stuff like overclocking to 1ghz while improving battery life. So I’ll probably be satisfied for a good amount of time
Holy shit I hate AT&T. This e71x is a red headed step child, as in an e71 but with a newer OS (S60 3.2 vs the e71’s S60 3.1) and it has it’s own custom AT&T firmware. What it seems to be amounting to is that as apps get developed further they become incompatible with this one-off oddball of a phone.
I cannot install the ovi store (though I found an old install that works), I cannot install mail for exchange (though again I found an old install), and now I cannot install Nokia maps which I was counting on for its offline GPS support while I’m wandering around northern Thailand. So no app store, no exchange email, and now no native maps. I might as well get a damn iphone at this rate.
I’ll bitch to Nokia and AT&T until someone replaces it, then sell it and get an e72.
bro.
do i have to use this on you?
NO! BAD FRY!
lol let me elaborate:
A 16GB iphone 3GS will sell for 450-600 on ebay. What I should have done when I first signed with AT&T was get an iphone and flip it, then use the proceeds to buy a smartphone that AT&T has never offered (Nokia E72, N97, Nexus One), and enjoy a non-AT&T-fucked smartphone and $15/mo unlimited data.
AT&T’s sending me a newly refurbished e71x. :cjerk:
I’ll beat the piss out of it then shell out for a real Nokia. Maybe I can hold out for something like this.
If it’s anything like the rumors it’ll beat the piss out of silly droids and iphones. And not sell well in the US.
what do they expect for you to gain from a “freshened” E71x? i feel your pain Fry, the E71x was a sip of the coolaid and a cock tease to say the least, I’ll probably buy something when my contract is up from overseas, whatever’s current when that happens.
Once my new one shows up, before I ship the old one back, I may try doing some firmware playing with the old one. The incompatibility problems seem to have started when I reloaded the firmware via PC Suite rather than just AT&T over the air. The only thing I can think of is maybe the firmware from Nokia isn’t quite right. I doubt it though.
Here’s some good reading if you really want to get your geek on:

The E71x is only on AT&T in the entire world, so there is no non-AT&T firmware for it. If this was a standard E71 locked to AT&T we could just dump unbranded (not carrier specific) firmware onto it and be off to the races. Supposedly E71 firmware won’t work on this phone. I tried to downgrade from 3.28 (current) to 3.27 (what my phone came with from AT&T) just to see if that helped anything but there is a downgrade block built into the phone.
So Nokia’s got a new flagship. The N8 has gone official. Looks pretty sweet. Symbian^3 and a 12MP camera with Xenon flash are the highlights. Processor is over 600mhz, which is pretty screaming on a Symbian phone. 3.5" glass capacitive touch screen. All aluminum housing. Should be priced just under $500.

Certainly an iphone killer in my book. But then again so is that banana peel in my trash can.
