***Official Nokia Crew Thread***

That was the same thing I was doing, then I switched to Nokia Messaging, which is leaps and bounds beyond the included client. It works, its just not as good.

This isn’t just about paying for the usage up to this point, but all future sales too. There is a good little writeup here: Nokia Sues Apple over patent infringement – rgbFilter

I’ll have to give it a shot then.

… But first I need a new phone battery because mine is about kicked after 3.5 years of use. :meh:

Looks like Symbian is stepping up to the plate and joining the “app store” club

ovi.com

Couple of apps that iPhags think make their iphone special:

Nokia Point & Find: Take pic of barcode, get list of stores with prices:

Shazam: Hit button, identify song on radio, but it if you like it.

My phone came with bar code reader software. But I’ve only used it a few times. I guess it’s big in other countries to put codes on business cards so that others can scan them and import the data to the phone as a contact.

I can’t get it to run on the E71x. Between AT&T’s neutering and nobody bothering with making apps for an S60 3.2 E71, this thing’s a pain in the ass. (The standard E71 has S60 3.1)

Playing with shozu now. Seems like it integrates nicely with facebook, picasa web albums, etc. Except that after I paid $4.99 for it, it’s saying that I’m using an unlicensed version and won’t let me upload media. WTF.

ugh i hated shozu.

Ok, you guys with the E71 have the BP-4L battery right?

I need to run out tonight and find a AT&T store where they might have extra batteries I can buy for my phone. I figure I can find one locally if the E71 shares the same battery as mine.

I think my brothers E71 uses a BP-4L…

Yep, the e71x uses the BP-4L.

Yeah my bro just texted me back.

If I can snag one for $40-ish I’ll be happy. It’s $70 new from Nokia USA, lol.

:fu:

Called AT&T, and they don’t stock batteries… anywhere, lol. They recommend I buy one from “The Battery” on Niagara Falls Blvd… calling there now.

Called that place, and they said they’d call me back… no call yet, lol. I think I’m stuck buying online. And to think I was at the Nokia Store in NYC only a few months ago…

ill be in nyc nov 12th josh if u wanna wait

Thanks Tom, but I’m going to order it online tonight.

Anyone used vlingo? http://www.vlingo.com/products/nokia/

Buddy sent it to me, seems pretty neat but the usage fee is lame

That’s sweet, but yeah  to usage fee. I wonder if the pre-loaded versions on the E72, etc. have usage fees?

I would imagine they do. The fee just unlimits the number of texts/emails.

Probably will install this weekend and use it for fun…

Hmm. I installed Ovi Maps (formerly Nokia Maps). In the settings it lets you select/download a voice for directions. So I did. And now have voice guided nav. Supposedly this is a paid service but I haven’t paid for shit.

Cool. Voice guided navigation for free with ovi maps. The rest of the program looks really slick too. Check it out if you haven’t already.

Cool stuff.

Oh, and check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNo6pn-dnSQ

Basically, Maemo has the ability to run multiple phone operating systems. That is on an N800… Imagine having an N900 and being able to run whatever Windows phone OS / app you want while at the same time running Android, lol. You could use Windows for work, Maemo and Andriod for personal use… all at the same time. Why would you buy any other phone?

I think I need to add Maemo to the title of this thread…
