how did you get mail for exhcange to function? i have nokia messaging, which is fine but has the weakpoints you mentioned, but with Xpress you could coordinate sync schedule on weekends (sleeping in, early to bed on weekdays) which i liked. never been able to get mail for exchange to run so i could upgrade to PUSH which would be the cats ass.
OK let me try to explain without sounding like a moran… When you first got your phone and went to the native email client, it prompted you to install either xpress mail or mail for exchange right? The built in mail for exchange installer is the right one but for some reason nobody (myself included) can get it to work without resetting the phone first via *#7370#.
Like if you just try that installer now it won’t work, but if you reset your phone then do the same thing it will work. Then you can setup email push over exchange, contacts syncing, calendar syncing, tasks, etc. Email, calendar, and contacts all work with google. Just use the server m.google.com.
It works great, except just like xpress mail it doesn’t support html email. :tif:
ah okay, so i have to brick it, and then start over. i can handle that
I want the E72. Almost the same phone, but nicer in all the ways it should be. 50% faster processor than the e71 (600mhz vs 400 mhz), swapped the 2.5mm headset jack for a standard 3.5mm jack, the keys on the keyboard are just a touch bigger (which should be perfect. I can type faster on small keyboards, but the e71 is just a hair too small for me), the camera got upgraded from 3.2mp to 5.0mp, holding down the space bar activates the flash so you can use it as a light (s60spoton will do it on the e71), and the battery door is still metal but now so is the trim ring that surrounds the phone, and the center select button functions as an optical trackpad. All still in the exact same size tiny package. Too bad I’m not dropping $469 on a phone any time soon. :roflpicard:
The only fault I see is that it still has the same 320x240 screen. :tif: It’s not a bad screen, but it’s definitely behind the times. Oh, and I guess the camera still sucks, it just sucks with more megapixels.
Wait til it’s out for a bit and pick one up used on howardforums. The guys there change phones every week and there are always great condition symbian devices for sale. Sell your E71 to pay for part of it, and pay for the other part when you switch to the $10 a month data package since anything unlocked isn’t considered a PDA to AT&T.
Joe I think you’re the biggest closet cell phone nerd on the site. I’ll keep an eye out.
I’ve been wondering about that data plan thing you mentioned when I first switched to AT&T. So I can’t do it with the e71x since it’s an AT&T special?
:snky: :snky:
If you want the $10 a month data you have to put your SIM in a non-smartphone or something unlocked for a day or two. Then call 611 from it and tell them you’re no longer using the E71 and want to switch to the $10 Family Data Unlimited. As soon as they switch the feature you can switch back to the E71.
There’s a couple of decent deals on e72’s on hofo. $380 for one with 2 weeks of use on it for example. But then there’s a half dozen morons asking $550 when you can get it brand new shipped from nokia for $479.
Make sure you check your currency. Not that it matters when they’re pretty much 1:1 but most of the prices are in canuckian dollars.
Sonofabitch. I was getting hard until I saw the shipping tab.
Brand new E72. $169.
$230 shipping.
LOL, they’re sending it to you on a rickshaw from Beijing
its actually a small chinese child that swims here to deliver it.
That’d be kind of cool. Can I keep him? I could use someone to sweep my floors and wash my balls.
i think they are programmed to self destruct once they reach their destination due to slavery laws here.
I’m keeping an eye out for Nokia store discount codes. A few people managed to pick up N900’s for about $300 about a month ago… but I haven’t been following the forums that close. I’ll let you know Fry if I find anymore.
i keep looking to if i find any ill post em up apas as ill be picking one up too
Cool. You can get an E72 on newegg right now for $369 shipped, FYI.
they buy their nokia from us i believe
looks like newegg has the best deal on the n900 also 549 + free shipping and no tax
Well then how much can you get me a Nokia for? You know, now that I’m not getting my free data from you since I left Verizon…
