***Official Nokia Crew Thread***

ill ask the nokia guy, we can trade for bombshell

Posted from my BlackBerry using BerryBlab for NYSpeed

:fry: Nokia had a big announcement planned for today. News just came out:

Free Ovi Maps Premium, aka free turn by turn just like android. Except wait, maps can be saved to your device so the service can work totally offline.

EDIT: Looks like it’s for a limited number of devices in a limited number of countries. Looking for a workaround now…

It’s about time. I’ve had all of North America stored on my phone for years, just without turn-by-turn. But I’ve also never been in a situation where I was lost and needed turn-by-turn, I just needed a peak at the map to figure out where I was.

Network-dependent maps never made much sense especially when phone / memory card memory is so large now.

As of right now its good in 70 countries, plus gives you 3d driving and walking navigation.

no E71, damn it.

Honestly though, I ever need anything, google maps works in a pinch. my car, or rentals have navigation systems already. would be nice to have, but not really that big of a deal.

No USA at all. :2fingers:

Oh well, as mentioned, I might use it once or twice a year.

So do any of you guys use your Nokias as your MP3 players? I do with mine, but I get a disturbing amount of white noise. It’s a constant hiss during an audiobook, and it ruins any song that doesn’t have background sound.

:frowning:

i get none on my blackberry /shameless plug

LOL I got no noise on first 3 Tours, music included. :2fingers:

But I do miss
-better sound quality (when it worked)
-better camera
-better keyboard
-way better FB app
-and better screen
-BB messenger a little bit
-3.5mm headphone jack
-the really good speakerphone

I don’t miss:
-The size of a non e-series phone
-the shitty build quality
-the lock button that doubles as an unlock button that’s right on top of the phone where it’s easy to bump of all the stupid fucking things
-the lack of tasks on the home screen
-BB’s don’t work with my Overdrive audio-book rental library app :nerd:

I dunno, I may come back to BB some day. Maybe…

u know, i think the same thing about the unlock button, but i’ve never (knock on wood) unlocked it in my pocket.

All the time, no hissing here. Prob a AT&T branded issue

What headphones are you using?

Most of the time I listen to the radio on my speakerphone. No hissing there either. It’s loud enough in the garage to work great while I’m washing / wrenching

You must not be fat enough. My tour unlocked all the damn time. I wanted to just disable it and lock it via software like the phones without dedicated lock buttons worked, but that was no dice. The only workaround was to add a 4 digit password. :tif:

i think god just hates you

These three for work, gym, and home, all with radioshack 2.5mm->3.5mm adapters.

It could be an AT&T thing. They did some really stupid shit to this phone.

Maybe it’s the adapter, but I think it’s the phone because there’s no noise until I actually hit the play button.

Or at least Jim Balsillie…

when it comes to owning a hockey team, definitely.

Naw I meant Jim Balsillie hates me. Judging by how filthy swim in a gold vault rich he is I don’t think God hates him.

eh, he sold his soul to come up with BES.

The US is suppose to be getting this. At least that is what the email from work said, and we do the advertising for Nokia.

Nokia advertises?
