Official Running Thread!!!!!!

There was one jogger/stroler on the course, seeming to be pushing an adult who was mentally/physically handicapped. That’s different than every GD one with offspring pushing one foolishly b/c they have a sex trophy. Couple Army guys in boots and uniforms, couple flags carried.

How about this guy who ran a 19 minute 5k pushing 2 children? Fuck him, right!

Hope you feel better man!

The list of injuries makes me want to keep riding my bike and not attempt running lol

Running is srs bsns!

So when’s the next 5k around here? I haven’t gone for a single run in over a year. I kind of want to go from couch to 5k in half an hour and see what happens.

It would be best to talk yourself out of it. Real runners know most don’t have the capacity to do what we do. No biggie.

Sunday I jammed 3.2 mi run ~10min/mi and then hopped on the bike and did another 3.6mi. Not quite up to Zac’s ridiculous run 10mi then teach spin for 1,000 hours but I enjoyed the extra workout.

Also, Looks like the Clymb has probars up for purchase right now, if anyone eats those.

Sure take the 5,000 people in the buffalo marathon, then add a one hundred joggers in the starting chute, and there will be more than just me who gets trampled. I have a footprint on my back I noticed fyi… 19min is REAL fucking SRS bsns too… FUCK!

You seriously have foot prints on your body? I saw a guy trip at like mile 1 and everyone stopped or moved around him, sorry to hear you weren’t as lucky… I can’t believe people would step on you. People suck as I am sure you know all too well.

Mile 7 right behind the arena. It was just a faint red mark, got one I know on my back I saw in the mirror, and I know someone got me on the back of the knee. I popped back up but my leg went into spasms. I only got bumped mid footfall closer to the curb, but close enough my foot wouldn’t fit between the curb & other foot. Not upset, honest accident. I was just bummed I couldn’t complete the distance irregardless of time. Tomorrow is another day.

Brick training is great (Bike Run It Can Kill) great cross training.

Cougar you caught me on my way back to the convention center, I could hardly walk after the half, it is crazy how much more of an impact wearing “minimals” takes on your joints. But congrats to all of those who ran! Spam - hopefully you can hop back in soon enough. I want to get a full under my belt, but I dont want to run it in May, if training continues to go well, I will aim for a fall race. I am working on speed training now, Komen 5k at Delaware Park next weekend, next goal is to get to 20 min or less in the 5k (as mentioned before, equally, if not more challenging goal than the full). Btw - this year was my best half yet (out of 4), ran a net time of 1:56:50

Anyone ever try this type of training?

http://news.ku.dk/all_news/2012/2012.5/new_research_shows_runners_can_improve_health_and_performance_with_less_training/

Basically 10 seconds of high intensity workout, 20 seconds of moderate, 30 seconds of low. Repeat 5 times then rest for two minutes. Repeat the whole sequence as desired.

Over the course of seven weeks, runners were able to improve performance on a 1500-metre run by 23 seconds and almost by a minute on a 5-km run – and this despite a 50 per cent reduction in their total amount of training. These are just some of the results from a research project involving 18 moderately trained runners following the 10-20-30 training concept developed by researchers from the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences at the University of Copenhagen.

That training style sounds familiar… I think that we use to do something similar in track… we’d run like 1/2 lap jog 1/4lap, run 1 lap, jog 1/2 lap, run 2, lap jog 1/4 lap so on and so forth… But that was LONG time ago… 14+yrs ago.

I finally pushed myself out to run last night again for the first time since last summer. I got 2 miles in  it was painfully slow but i made it! lol I pushed my 3yr old during the run, in his jogging stoller. I stopped 1/2 way and stretched and he was begging to “run with daddy” but i made him wait till we got closer to home. Then he “ran” for 4 blocks with me at the end. So funny to see a little 3’tall 3yr old “running in his jammies”! haha

Corporate Challenge this week!!!

Beers at my place after

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I’ll be thur. Ankle brace and all. :frowning:

I will be in a knee brace :frowning:

Ran a few times after the marathon already. Had an amazing interval session the other day. Going to start working on the ~23:30 5k goal of the year now. Not that fast but needless to say I am a much better distance runner than a speed runner.

Paulo you better come crush a few beers after. Prog I know you will be!

Does anyone run this without a bib? My fiancee is going to run, but doesn’t have a number. Her work isn’t big enough and nobody wanted to run (you need 4 runners for a team).

Plenty of people run for shits. She’ll be fine.

Drew, I’m in. But not until after I get my share of the buffet, boxed wine and kegs at the Moog tent.

I’m hoping to make it up to this…as a non-corporate runner (no number). Drew, where’s your pad in relation to the race?

I did this last year

I hear ya. I organized it for us this year so I will be sticking around for a minute too. Wils BBQ and plenty of beer at the General Mills tent!

.1 miles?

I will pm you and paulo the new address
