I’m shooting for a 5k, although I’ve been slacking super hardcore. Anyone else using RunKeeper to track times/Distance?

I use endomondo if I use anything, but I’ve found running is a lot more enjoyable if you ditch all that crap and just run. Pay no attention to time or distance.
I’ve made time for exactly one run since the Conisius chili challenge in January. Ran from my house to buckhorn island park and back. It’s pretty sweet that a trail through the woods along the edge of the Niagara river is within running distance of my house.
I use My Tracks on android
Ran my first 5k last weekend. Finished in just over 30 minutes. Good luck man!
Agreed, if you’re just a leisure runner. If anyone wants to go beyond the casual run (which there’s no shame in), find yourself a race and sign up for it. A race date and a training schedule will keep you in check and motivated to reach the end goal. I managed to go from having difficulty at 3 miles when I began my training, to a full marathon 5 months later. Also, tell everyone you know you’re goal and it’ll be harder to talk yourself out of this afternoons run. This being said, I’m doing the Twin Cities marathon this fall in Minneapolis:tup:
Another thing that helped me through all of the training, and the race, was my involvement with Team in Training. I had to raise $3000 for the raise to go towards the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, so I had that obligation to those that donated money to push myself. But the biggest motivator was the people I was raising funding for…those who are truly in much more pain than I was experiencing during the run. Was an incredibly emotional and possitive experience that I’d recommend to anyone to participate in.
When I use runkeeper I start it and put my phone in the pocket. I check it after I complete my 2mi route.
has a bunch of races and events to do, if you’re looking for something…might have already been posted.
I’ve been using the Nike+ GPS app for iPhones. It’s not the most accurate thing in the world, but at the very least it allows me to track progress. Plus you can link up with friends to see how they are doing with training. My old college roommate, who now lives in San Diego, and I are training together from 3000 miles away.
As for my current running, I’ve finally got back into a good rhythm where it feels great to run instead of feeling like a dog after 2 miles.
RunKeeper isn’t too accurate, it clocked a 7.1 mile route at 6.89 the other day, but it is nice to keep track of exactly where you went, time, etc…
If you’re a noob and training for 5k, there is a cool app called c25k (couch to 5k) which is a 9 week program to get you from beginner, to a 5k run. I’ve heard good things.
I <3 running
just busted out a solid 8 miler in the rain only to have it get sunny shortly after i got home. FFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

i have some of my best workouts when im hungover.
did 12 miles crosstraining today, feelin good!
Ran 5 miles with my pops today. Then drank beer and ate wings. Good day
Ran the Subaru 4 Mile Chase yesterday with my Dad. What a great event. Will run it again next year for sure.
Anyhow I came in here to post up about my new running sneakers. I had been running the Nike Vomero series for quite some time and their latest the Vomero 5 just wasn’t doing it for me at all. So I went to Fleet Feet and ran in about six different pairs before I went with the Brooks Glycerin 9 and I am impressed. The real test will come once I do a 10+ mile run in them but as of now they feel great and my stride feels as natural as it ever has.

Banged out a 2-mile on thursday jogged pretty much the whole thing for the first time and dropped my mile time about 2 minutes since i first started running.
Just got back in it a week ago. Ran 2mi this morning outside, did spin class, and another mile on the treadmill afterwards @ 6.5mph. I’m gonna hate life tomorrow morning…
Long time runner trying to get back into it…
History: 3 1/2 marathons, TONS of 10k’s, countless 5k’s. (Cross country & Track in HS) Fastest mile 4:40 (but im FAR from that now :meh: )
My father and sister did a team Triathlon last summer, they asked me 2 weeks ago if i wanted to join them (running the 5k leg) in the race Aug 6th! Well i have not trained since High school… And that was 12yrs ago? Ug! I’ve stayed fairly active since then, mostly playing some fairly competitive Volleyball, but that is WAY different than Running.
So I’ve started to train… Man Don’t ever stop running, its SO hard to get that stride and energy back! I’m up to 2 miles runs, but i still have to walk and catch my breath:oops: 2-3 times on a 2 mile run. I’ve got this week and next week to be able to run 3.2 miles… I just came off a weeks vacation, I was only able to get 3 runs in and 1 bike ride in. The runs were tough it was VERY hilly there, and the bike ride was quite the work out. I was riding my mother (small but nice) hybrid bike. we rode hard for 70 min but i think that 60 of it was uphill! but it was nice to get a work out and easy on the knees.
I figure that i will run 2 mile runs this week and try and throw a few 3 mile runs in later this week and a few early next week and then a few light runs next week to be fresh for the race…
My 2mile run last night was ok, i went out expecting to get rained on and BOY did I!! It POURED on me for about a 1/2 mile but then a nice moderate rain for the rest of the run. That is better than the 100°+ heat to run in. I had to walk 3x for about 30yards but then was able to get right back into a slow jog. The 2 mile run took about 18min with the 3 walks mixed in… Man i need to drop 20+lbs to be in some decent running shape! lol
