i personally like sakura
Their spicy tuna roll is supposed to be the most authentic as well as the best in the area according to buffalochow.
been to Fuji on main st in OP a few times, the owner of all the Fuji’s is typically always there and very friendly.
I agreed with Don! I would never go to Wasabi or Fuji Grille for sushi. They are just regular chinese that see Sushi as an opportunity for making money. They don’t use fresh fishes for their sushi, and that’s why their prices are so cheap. I know where they get their fishes from
Back in the day, O’s(when O’s was on Main street) and Kunis are the 2 best sushi place you can go to. Now a day, I would go to Taki for sushi. It’s right over the border next to the casino. Really…people need to go to big cities that have really good sushi and then compared them to Buffalo’s sushi.
I personally know Mike. I worked with him a few times. My brother used to be parter with him at Tsunami. The guy really love his work. He only used the best products for his foods. Even if he’s not making good profit. He used to get stuffs shipped directly from Hawaii(next day shipping). I would trust his fishes for sushi.
Said spicy tuna roll that is spoken of at Tokyo Shanghai Bistro…I must find this delectable incantation. Who amongst this thread wishes to join me in such journey?
(I’m free after 4:15 ;))
How do you get full on sushi without spending $50 other than going to a buffet?
lol
3 rolls, or usually 18 pieces is a good lunch for me, but I am starving by dinner, I would probably need double that to be stuffed.
I normally have trouble finishing 3 rolls for lunch, whats great is its not a “omg i just at a large pizza and have tons of grease in me” type full, its a very light full feeling.
Yeah, I’m not into dropping that much cash on a meal and ending up filling up on rice. Did it twice and just felt unfulfilled, like I just had an appetizer and I was ready for a nice steak. Guess I’m limited to buffet fare.
i like a bowl of miso, and a bowl of sushi rice on the side and a good sized roll with the sushi makes it go a little father.
The quality was great. The fusion offerings were interesting but all in all left me wanting more traditional offerings with the quality ingredients. Sea Bars spicy tuna roll was the best and largest I have ever had, it was also $10. Well worth it though.
Looks like I’m going to go over the boarder to try Taki.
Grovers burger for lunch, sushi for dinner… perfecto
quality > quantity
this is my fav place in NYC… if you’re ever in the area… stop by… it will change your life (or at least your view on sushi/sashimi)
taki’s website:
So Friday I took Jay and Beth Disalvo to Seabar. Easily one of the best sushi experiences i’ve ever had.
We were brave enough to try the uni, it was amazing.
Had some toro tuna, was one of the best pieces of fish ive ever had.
The owner actually came over near the end of dinner and gave us a plate of Engawa. it’s apparently rare enough that they dont sell it, but only serve it to “people who really seem to enjoy food”. AKA, people that have spent a good amount already. Simply an amazing piece of fish.
This is definitely my favorite spot in Buffalo.
Sushi on Bloor in Toronto is ridiculous. You can stuff your face with more sushi than you can imagine for under $30 USD.
The internet has some rumors about cleanliness issues and crap, but I’ve eaten there almost a dozen times, and the fish has always been very fresh, and I’ve never gotten sick.
love Sake Cafe on transit/maple…
also… no one has mentioned Samuri on transit/n french, very good there too.
Here is my contribution to this thread…
I think the place was called Jade sushi in St. Catharines, Ontario. All you can eat sushi for $20. That includes a drink too. Sooooo good.
i have a pic exactly like this on my phone too. all u can eat ftw.
