First of all, that’s a beautiful boat! I’ve always wanted an OB Superboat or Progression for this area. How does the hull handle the water that we see?
Second, I know it’s not what you are looking for, but I’ve got a 25P Trophy Plus (4 blade) that you could try sometime. I know how hard it is to find good props around here.
Edit: Whoops, I read that as you are running a 25P Mirage Plus now. Nevermind, this definitely isn’t a good prop for your setup.
The boat came with a 25P, I switched to a 23P plus. I couldn’t spin the 25P as high as I wanted to, hence the switch, so a guy wants to trade for my old 25P for another 23, but his is labbed to cut through better.
I’ve only had the boat since late last summer, but as far as the water here, the deep v cuts through the chop pretty well. It shoots down and up the river without any real issues.
The lake gets wild enough that it gets unpleasant, where as a larger hull (28+) could probably be better.
I’m sure it depends on the grate and ski. They make several different ones for mine all with different advantages. I have very little “traction” when there are any small waves since my hull drafts next to nothing. I’m just sitting on the top of the water. Now I’m the same speed as my friend’s Superjet because at speed water is actually making its way to the impeller, lol.
What manufacturer did you end up going with? I need to get one eventually. I have very bad cavitation on take off from a dead stop. I pin it and I just sit there bouncing off the rev limiter.
My ski doesent have a wear ring. (Believe me I double checked 3 times). And alot of guys change the prop to a Solas 17/29 and they say it helps alot but I still think theres a intake grate that can help considering alot of guys cut the veins out of the stock grate. Im thinking about getting the worx Maxi Loader and a good prop and that should help.
What prop did you end up running? I hear a lot of guys using custom pitches with more boost and what not. I wanted to use the macs boost crap but its soooo expensive… I have sourced out other ways of doing things but once you “Clamp” the map sensor your limited to boost depending on the octane and just using a normal MBC the ecu cant pull boost. Any advice you cant pitch in would be ausome:tup:
17/29 like you said. You won’t see any topend gains, but it does help with cavitation, better hole shot. Yeah, that macsboost “module” he sells is a waste of money from what I’ve read. The intercooler is a good upgrade from him. If you go on greenhulk forums, there’s a guy on there that put together a pretty quick R12X on the cheap. He’s not running that plug and play module. “Jlfx car audio” was his username.
Yea, but macs boost Intercooler is 750 bucks! I found the same Intercooler on Frozenboost.com that has the same specs for 150 +shipping. I have read a lot of what that guy has posted. Hes running water/Meth trying to combat the extra heat from boost and the locked timing maps. Every freeking honda on the market you can chip and tune I cant believe no one has found a way to put chrome or something on it. I read 20+ pages of guys trying to get a stand alone to work and It never got finished. Unbelievable. I Know that tiny turbo Can only Handle 20Lbs then its out of its efficient range. I would love 18 For this summer.
Well, I have finally joined the club. Picked up a 1989 Sea Doo Bombardier the other day from Andy (1QIKZ). Been eyeing this in his shop for the last year or 2, and we worked out a nice deal for the both of us. These late 80’s/early 90’s PWC’s are my favorite generation, and I can not wait to get this our on our lovely WNY waters. I got a lot to learn about it all, but I should have it registered and be certified this week. Hope to see some of you guys out there…
In any event, here it is after a quick wash and light polish…
Went out Saturday and did some tubing. Lake Erie was reporting 62 degrees and I doubt the river was much warmer. Brrrrr.
Left from Niawanda and went north. Ended up doing a lap of Grand Island and spending most of our time on the quiet west river. Did get caught in the rain on the way home and since everyone was already pretty cold from tubing decided to toss on the bowcover and convertible top.
My daughter and her friend thought riding under the bow cover was great though:
If you mean out near tonawanda ish area? I personally dont like it out there its way to bumpy for me IMO. Usually once a year Ill go out there but its not much fun bouncing around. Also the coast guard loves to hang out around there so I tend to migrate out to the lake and out near hamburg beach alot. Everyone has different oppinion I suppose.
Yea, I figured a lot of folks prob. stay away due to the chopiness…I want to check out the river, go to Strawberry Island, cruise around East/West River, etc…but maybe I am in over my head already?
