Yeah very cool! Nice work
F those guys. I was having a nice nap out on Ontario a month or so ago. 70’ Sunseeker decided to cruise by at about 10 kts a couple hundred yards away from me. Not a cool wake up.
Those old mercury outboards are pretty cool. Idk why those guys cruise 1/2 on plane like that, it’s probably one of the least fuel efficient situations anyway and they throw a big wake. You’d prolly get better gas mileage WFO
Renderings of the work they’re doing down at Buffalo Harbor State Park:
The rehabilitated breakwall will be stabilized and include paved walking and bike paths, shaded seating areas, the introduction of a fishing platform and lighting. The southern revetment will also be rehabilitated and like the breakwall, will be stabilized and feature increased fishing access. The southern revetment is expected to be complete by summer 2016, and the breakwall by fall 2016.
Fancy. Fancy.
Looks nice! My Erie Basin Marina slip had a nice little price increase this year :tif:
Tell me about it. I changed it up and will be dry docking this year. Doesn’t take me long to launch and saves me $1000 for the year.
Way better for your boat too. My 2000 Chaparral still looks new because it’s never been stored in the water under the baking sun.
True but there is nothing more convienient for a bigger boat than just driving to the marina and taking the boat out. My sea ray sundancer has a trailer but I leave it in a slip bc it’s a headache to trailer around.
Same. Mine isn’t that big (25-ish), but launching/recovering/trailering just sucks. Boat stays at Bootleggers Cove (used to be Sunset Bay) in Wilson. Our slip is about 50 feet from the outside bar. We’ll meet at the house, take care of critters, be at the marina 15 minutes later, 5 minutes after that, heading out on the water.
Although I agree trailering can be a hassle, I’ve perfected the single man launch last summer. It will be nice to keep the boat dry and clean, yet only take 5 minutes to unsnap the cover(s) and back the truck up to the trailer and launch it 100 ft away.
We shall see though. The only downside I can think of if the ramp is busy when Im trying to get out.
I would just get out of work during the week at times and randomly go down to the marina and take the boat out. If I had to trailer it and launch it every time I wouldn’t have taken it out nearly as much (10-11x last season). If I had a smaller boat I prolly wouldn’t care as much
What length is your sea ray? Open or closed?
I’ve only got an 18’ now but have zero issues launching/retrieving. I’ve launched and retrieved larger boats before with zero issues as well, and the time saving tradeoff is moot by the time you get done loading/unloading all your stuff that you can’t risk leaving in your boat at the marina. My boat stays packed and ready to go in my garage and I’ve got to drive to the river anyway.
I avoid launch hassles by paying for a yearly permit at Niawanda Park. With the free launch just up the street at Isle View the paid launch is like a private country club that keeps all the idiots out, but only costs $40/yr.
There are definitely some people who should avoid trailering as much as possible. Like these people (who didn’t have a permit for that launch btw):
All of this^^^^^^^^
I/we were easily out 2 dozen times from when I put it in last week of last June.
Sea ray 250 Sundancer, 25’ but more like 27’ ish if you count the platform, 260hp Mercruiser 5.7 Alpha One. On the trailer the whole thing prolly weighs around 6000lb give or take…
You guys are making all the points as to why I just have a PWC and not a boat yet…the storage/slip/travel time issues are a bit too much to deal with, given my current schedule/life demands…plus, I trailer my Sea Doo with my Civic Si…and I can move the Sea Doo around in my backyard on the trailer with one hand…very convenient…
Having said all that, I still think about getting a boat every year, haha…\
And on topic, those improvements look really nice…any word on what the PWC launch will look like?
Sounds like a twin, in specs, to my Four Winns.
When you get over 5000lbs I can understand wanting a slip.
No idea, but I was just down there (hence the thread bump) and it does look like they’re changing the dock area but not the launch.
Improvements I’d like to see:
- large “no swimming” signs
- inform the park police that the buoys say “no prop boats” and say no mention of wake
- inform the park police about the rules for wakes in non swimming areas
- signs saying children shouldn’t be playing in the launch area

But overall it’s nice to see all the work getting done, and even more on the way with the transfer of a lot of land from the NFTA
