Well I just spent $2500 on the jetski and then watched it sink yesterday…so idk how well that plan was. Fml. It sucked huge balls. I jumped off as it was going down. Tied the tow strap to the yamaha and towed it to the nearest “beach”. Which happened to be the rockiest fucking beach I have ever seen. Then sent Jess to get the truck. I tried scooping out the water with a kamatchka vodka bottle I found, but that didn’t work. I walked along the rocky shore for 2 miles dragging it’s heavy water filled ass through the shallows, until I got to the break wall by the small boat harbor. I was able to flag down a fishing boat to pick me up and then go back to get the ski. I have so many fucking cuts on my feet from all the rocks and sharp objects on the beach. I can barely walk today.
I’ve been in the river since about the 1st of the month and it’s warm enough for me. Although it’s silly packed out there on the weekends. As soon as I sort out my stalling issue (hopefully just tweaking the carb) I’ll be headed to the lake on weekends.
The river won’t be much better since the flow rate is so fast it doesn’t really differ much in temp from the lake. Taking the boat out tonight and I’d love to do some wakeboarding but 65 is pretty cold for jumping in the water. In my younger dumber days I’d start skiing when it hit about 55.
65 is about the average temp for the Pacific here is SOCAL. A nice 3/2 wetsuit could be a good investment to get more wakeboarding days in… it really makes all the difference.
I don’t want to wakeboard bad enough to stuff myself into a wetsuit. It will warm up.
Everyone is talking about how the lake is so cold because the ice went out so late. There’s no data for 6/23/2013 but on 6/24/2013 it was 66 degrees compared to the 65 degrees it is today. With the heat today there’s a good chance we’ll be at 66 by tomorrow.
I honestly thought it would make a big difference. On May 9th this year there was still ice chunks floating down the river and the lake was 38 degrees. May 9th, 2013 the lake was 44. Hard to believe it’s made up that 6 degree difference in so little time.
