Yea man, it is frustrating…but now I have another nutty theory…

Since it was tuned up (replaced fuel selector valve and adjusted the carb.) at Anchor Marine after last season’s end, and the first time I had it out this year, it ran 100%, consider this…

My machine has a very aggressive hull design, and when running, is at quite an angle in the water…could it be I am not getting fuel from the pick ups in the tank when I get down to say, 1/3 of a tank? Could it be something so simple? I doubt it, but I just filled up after my last ride. It took 4.83 gallons. According to what I could find online, my machine has a tank capacity of 7.7 gallons. Seems unlikely that this could be my issue, but I am chasing for answers at this point…

For reference from standing position to running…and running at even low speed…

Did you rebuild the carbs last year? If you are still running the old grey fuel lines I would check your fuel water separator and make sure it’s clear, then, mikuni marine carbs have small screens in the inlets on each carb and I bet yours are plugged with crap. Even if you cleaned them out last year, if you are still running the stock grey fuel lines they are probably plugged again. fwiw, I’ve ran both of my seadoos on the same plugs all season and I took them out 12-14x. Carrying a spare set with you is never a bad idea however.

My machine has only one carb (Mikuni, I believe), and it was only adjusted at the end of last year by Anchor Marine, not rebuilt. My machine also has had all fuel lines updated, all USCG black lines. I will take a photo of the inside of the hull to show and confirm to all, as I could be wrong. Stay tuned…

What exactly does it do? When mine had bad diaphragms it would run ok sometimes then run boggy and have no power and occasionally run on 1 cyl until you were like 2/3 throttle or more… When my screens were plugged it would run ok somtimes then if I was at WOT it would run strong then sputter and break up until you got off the throttle… What are your symptoms exactly?

With the help of a good buddy my dad and I bought this beauty this weekend. Baja Boss H2X, 24ft etc etc. Love it so far and still learning a lot

^ Closed bow isn’t my thing but nice boat. What motor?

Those are usually a 6.2L with a bravo drive, like 320hp I think. I was looking at a 23’ outlaw with a 496 Big block but it’s more money than I want to spend… Plus I didn’t want to leave it in a slip. I think I’ll keep my Sundancer for a few more years.

Thanks for the response. My issue sounds like what you are talking about. One second it is perfect, then lose power, then regain power, almost like an on/off switch…last year it seemed if I went full throttle, that is when it would bog, but if I let off throttle a bit, it picked right back up…

Personally id rebuild the carb and go through it with a new diaphram and screens etc. The parts are about 40 bucks and if everything looks ok you should be able to do it in a couple hours or so. I go through mine every 2-3 seasons or whenever it starts to run funny

Absolutely start here @91MR2^

It has a 7.4L MPI, 310hp.

Ran into one of the previous owners of my boat at Grass Island over the weekend.

Have the Corbeau’s coming in Friday and still running a 23 Mirage and have more rpm to go. Thinking about sending it to get labbed, in which case I think 68 is doable if I dont lose too much efficiency and gain the 250 rpm Ive got left.

^ Grass Island was the busiest I’ve ever seen it when we went by around 4pm Sunday. I should have snagged a picture.

I’m running low to mid 50’s with 3 adults, 1 kid, and a full tank of gas on the 19p 4 blade aluminum I just picked up and I’m more than happy with that. I was much more concerned with holeshot and midrange and the 19p 4 blade crushes the 21p 3 blade it came with as well as the 21p 4 blade I tried first. The 19p gets me around 4850-4900 rpm with a light load (max WOT of 5k). 6 adults, 2 kids and a full tank of gas it will snap my fat ass out of the water like nothing on the wakeboard.

If anyone is interested in the 21p 4 blade I’m going to be tossing it up on ebay soon. It’s brand new, used it one time and didn’t even wear the paint off the edges of the blade. $101 new shipped, I’d sell it for $75.

They use a replaceable hub system so you’d need one of those for your specific outdrive. The two I happen to know are 501 for Mercruiser Alpha, 504 for Volvo SX.

can someone pin google maps with the grass island spot for me?

I know its up near the tip of GI but new to boating and don’t really know where i’m going.

This is the dude that helped me with my purchase  my man. Also next time you head up there let me know ill go with. I also still love your boat.

Scott, I saw you Saturday when I was returning to my slip at EBM. Didn’t realize it was you until the last second.

Haven’t been to Grass Island yet this year… maybe Sunday…

yes sir, I knew it was you

We should setup a grass island meet. “Boats & Coffee” or something, lol. @King and I were there maybe a week ago, but it was early in the day.

I’m down. It’s right near where I launch.
