Criticizing the change from the 55 to the 63 is like critiscizing the change from the 4.2 S4 to the T. Sure, the V8 was balls better sounding and more enjoyable, but in terms of real world speed, mileage, etc, it certainly isn’t a step backwards… same for the MB from everything I’ve ever read. Different, but not backwards… subjectively different, and a less visceral driving experience? Sure, backwards? No.

e63s are great cars, its just that the 55’s are even better
most people regret their e63 purchase and jump back to the 55. I havent driven an e63 but for the e55, the torque and modability are no joke. 3 bolt-ons and youre looking at 500+wheel

edit: MB is putting twin turbo v8’s into the new amg’s, so Im sure shit will get real serious in a year or so
im going next weekend after i install my pulley… just havnt gotten around to it with work being so crazy lately and all these stupid business trips runing my ability to work on my car…
I dont expect to get into the 11’s though on the tires i have… id be happy with ~12.3…
I drove both the e55 and 63 back to back when i was shopping for my next car and the 55 was much more fun to drive then the e63… that being said though, i can see how the e63 would appeal to many more people in terms of sales to MB core of new buyers…
that being said though the trans in the new e63 with the wet clutch is probably miles better then a TC…
the TT AMG cars vs the TT M Series stuff is going to get fun… german tuners are already putting down ~ 600 hp with just a flash in the x6/x5 M cars

Ground the throttlebody bolt flush to the plate for some better flow
and swapped out an intake snorkel for one from an s55 which is a tad bigger
