so i was reading on my other forum and i had seen this.
i thought it was quite impresive!

New Track Numbers for ZZP Turbo Swap
With our local track closed for the year, we headed out to Milan Dragway for their last weekend. They were running the “No ET Nationals” which is set up for grudge races, side bets, etc… They don’t run the ET boards, just the win light, and you only get your half of the timeslips. Last week, I had a lot of trouble with the throttle sitting at 50% for a couple seconds after each shift. The best time that day was 11.76 at 123. This week the ECM issues were solved and the car was running well. For the first pass, I launched decent(1.72 sixty), and hit 1-2 pretty good. I had my best 330’ time by a significant margin, but miseed 3rd gear.http://www.cobaltss.net/forums//images/smilies/icon_redface.gif I still managed a PB by almost a tenth with an 11.67 at 122. This pass was run with 17psi in 1st gear and switching to 23psi half way through 2nd. For the second pass, I launched about the same(1.71 sixty), but shifted 1-2 too soon and bogged a bit. I lost a full tenth from the 60-330 interval compared to the first run.http://www.cobaltss.net/forums//images/smilies/icon_mad.gif At least I hit the 2-3 this time, and finished with another PB of 11.4381 @ 126.68. This pass was run with 17psi in 1st gear and switching to 23.5psi in 2nd. For the 3rd pass, they had just finished prepping the track and it was hooking hard! If I had any idea how sticky it really was, I would have launched at a higher RPM or slipped the clutch off the line. With 5psi and 6500 RPM, I let the clutch out and the car jumped about 3 feet and the grippy track completely stopped the tires. The engine bogged bad and then took off. I hit the gears great, but ran out the pass on low boost for a mid 12 with a 2.27 sixty foot.http://www.cobaltss.net/forums//images/smilies/icon_redface.gifhttp://www.cobaltss.net/forums//images/smilies/icon_redface.gif After this pass, we ran into some issues with another car and needed to rob some parts, so I didn’t make any more passes. Therefore, final numbers for the season are:
531whp sae at 27psihttp://www.cobaltss.net/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif
11.4381 at 126.68 at 17/23.5psi

Don’t mind the timeslip dates. These passes were run 11-7-09.

this what i wanna run with my car.

Sounds like a nice setup

yea. im just waiting for them to release that kit to everyone.

sounds like a decent motor setup, if only it wasn’t in a car that sucked. it’s an ecotec right? so it could be in something like a saturn sky – now that would be cool

+1
I would like to see a nice 500+ hp sky.

Seriously ^^^ WTF is wrong with a Cobalt? Have you owned one? Driven one? Have any experience with them? I have owned my SS/SC for 4 years and can actually post an intelligent review of the car and IMO it’s one of the best FWD sport compacts in the market today even though there are the domestic haters out there.

there is no domestic hate on nyspeed :gotme:

How is theblue a domestic hater when he suggested a Saturn Sky would be cool with this setup?

:gotme:

theblue is probably hating on rwd more-so than domestics

Those numbers are impressive for a direct injection car. Most of the DI cars out there haven’t been turning out great numbers.

I think everyone knows the Cobalt SS/SC/ Turbo is one of the best if not the best FWD cars out.

The car handles and is cheap. Track times show this.

The problem is that it is FWD…RWD is oh so much fun.

yea its a ecotec.
they are making some good progress with the motor thats in my car now.

i totally agree with you on that!!
if it was rwd it would be an awesome car!!! im not saying its not an awesome car now, but rwd would make it that much better!!

Def not…

what is the excellence of the cobalt (beyond the ecotec motor)?

do you think it’s a good looking car?
does it have some advance suspension technology?
is it a super-light well balanced car?
is the interior innovative, well build, well optioned, etc?
does it destroy all in it’s autoX class, time attack, club racing?

I mean, I understand the whole 90s honda thing - you got a super light weight car with a double wishbone suspension that you could shove bigger motors into for a very low price.

so you cobalt humpers are going to have to help me out a bit here?

Didnt the sky/solstice also get the turbo motor?

there are impressive stock, but once modded all they do is spin the tires bc all the torque!!

that car in the first post is damn impressive though 127 mph traps are pretty damn impressive!!

They managed some VERY impressive track testing times with them. It’s not a super cool car, but for what it is, it’s good.

I stil think the mazdaspeed3 is WAY cooler though

of course you do cause you drive one lol.

there are better looking cars out there of course.
nothing crazy, just better then it use to.
the car only weighs 2900lbs. with 260hp form the factory.
the interior is deff nothing exciting to look at!
it set the new record for the fwd sport compact at Nurburgring by 13 seconds. (8:22.85 lap time) closest to it was the Mazdaspeed3 (8:39.66)
these are all stock numbers also.
