you will be ok as long as you use arp rod bolts and have the big end bored after they are pressed in. You wont be revving to 10g unless you have alot of money elsewhere ie, big cams, large intake, good header, throttle body etc. because it probably wont wanna make power that high.
but with this setup you should be perfect for what your looking to do. This motor that i built was one of my favorite and best running/reliable ones i have built.
honestly with the setup i originally posted you will make power probably to around 8900rpm at the most which is good because as we all know, high revs kill engines.
He does not want too spend a crazy amount of money. First off he does not have any money cause that GOD for saken FD is taking all of his money. All that damn 2 cycle crap this and that shit that I have to hear about at work is driving me crazy.
On a more serious note its just a budget build with stock parts nothing aftermarket really
no,no,no. He needs a full tein racing suspension and some sorta 12point cage with a 30pt harness and a type r swap. all for less then 2g’s.
Buuut on a serious note, i hope you already have a swap because finding parts here and there to peice something to gether is gunna nickle/dime ya to death.
I would find a complete b16 swap, and get yourself a ls bottom end and just slap them together. Dont rev over stock cylinder head rpm(8200) and have a nice day. a cheaper/faster alternative to the gsr swap that will cost over 2800 alone. Take a stock head gasket and make it a 1 layer so you get a little more compression and clay the motor for clearances, since the intake sid of the pistons is desined for a larger valve relief.
an EF in STS with the right setup has proven to be a winning car. Now, since you aren’t worried about winning, then I suggest an EF Si, Koni’s, and tires. You can stay in HS, and have a competitive car that’s fun to drive. It won’t be the fastest thing out there, but a slow car will really help you learn things like driving the right line, and speed maintenance. You can also take that EF, and do it up a little more and make it an STS, FSP, or SM car, and still have a ton of fun with it, while still being competitive.
Like Jeremy said, TIRES! They will make the biggest single difference for autox.
Stretch the friggin FDs legs and get involved with some real road course action.
If you are gonna do a honda…sell the one u have…get one that is cleaner…u need a reliable daily…not a friggin POS auto xr…cuz what happens when u break something on it? Gonna drive the FD daily?
PAY OFF YOUR DEBT THEN HAVE FUN WHEN ITS EASIER ON THE WALLET…ie. YOU GET A REAL JOB.
I will wager 5 dollars you regret investing $ pointlessly in that hatch by next spring and wish you had the $ back to do something with the FD.
If you were that much into Auto X you would have done it with your old 240 or the probeT while you had it…you are trying to compensate enjoying daily driving for fun because you dont use the FD enough to justify having it.
Sell the FD…Buy a kick ass 240 and a reliable daily…and then u can have your POS Honda Auto Xr
