Oklahoma Tornado

Crazy, its amazing and scary how much power wind can have. Break up the first house and its over once the debri starts flying.

It’s much more difficult to build a basement in this and surrounding areas / states due to soil conditions and ground makeup.

This is crazy. Not sure what you would do… walk out, if you were the lucky ones… look around and see nothing around you that is yours. No house/cloths/food… you have no car now to get around. What kind of mind set can someone have after going through that. To the people being the first responders, props to them if they were in it and keeping a strong head. This has to be like a massive bomb just exploded and leveled everything you knew.

Yep, was just going to post that. They have two types of soil. Really wet soil that causes mold problems or solid bedrock where you have to pay mega bucks to blast out a hole in the solid rock for the basement. Newer building tech has found ways to deal with the wet soil, for a cost obviously, but you can’t exactly go back and add a basement to an existing house built on a slab.

man, that sucks.

You just need a bomb proof concrete room like they have in Israel. Or rethink your decision on where to live.

Two elementary schools? These tornados need to be outlawed.

Saw that coming lol

why anyone would not move out of that state now is beyond me.

fixed.

Oklahoma’s population is probably growing right now. Energy based companies are booming around the OKC area. Just in the past 3 years that I’ve been travelling there (~6 times/year) the downtown area has been making an obscene amount of progress.

move the whole state somewhere else…

At least put a sign up saying “Tornado Free Zone.”

Someone like you should be moving TOO that state

Severe weather happens almost everywhere. Compare the two maps below, one showing severe thunderstorm watches & one showing tornado watches. Oklahoma isn’t too bad when it comes to tornadoes, probably much worse for hail:

which one is oklahoma? it’s not labeled man!

lol, high school geography fail

The pan handle duhhhhhhh
