My gf went to Wendy’s today on lunch and got an older dollar bill back in change. She took the pic below. It is a 1935a bill with some blue on the front. I did a little google search and came up with varying values from $100-$600 depending on condition. Is their any reputable place local to sell something like this?
Here’s the pic:
If you read the bottom is says “IN SILVER PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND” aka a silver certificate
In that condition prob worth a little more than a dollar airport plaza jewelers can tell you what its worth i took my mom there with some stuff and they were real honest about everything she brought.
The guy is a crook. He offered me $400 for a piece that was worth around $4k. I understand they can’t pay retail but cmon now…10%??? I wanted to smash him in the head with an “arm and a leg”. LOL
My grandmother had one and we took it to an appraiser, depending on the pattern of the blue mark some are worth a couple hundred dollars, hers was worth 2
Occasionally I find odd currency like this too, usually like once a year it seems like I get a silver certificate or some old coins,I’m willing to bet its the elderly with the whole “money under the mattress” thing lol. I also find good stuff in the reject bin of coinstar machines, 1888 indian penny a few months ago.
1935 Silver Certificates in well-worn condition are worth about $2.00 – lightly-worn about $3.00 – crisp uncirculated about $6.00
If it’s a Series 1935 A, with a brown Hawaii seal or a yellow North Africa seal, its value will be much higher.
If it’s a Series 1935 G and has the motto In God We Trust on the back, it’s worth about $5 circulated, $18 uncirculated. Note that most 1935 bills do NOT carry the motto, and that’s not an error. It wasn’t added until partway through the G series.
