What do you do?
So much wrong with this statement.
Retail.
And Fry, please do explain. I’m not trying to be a dick, just wanna hear your take on it.
Geehee hooked me up with a prototype to beta test…very impressive so far
Oh I’m sure I’m just being a dick instead of trying to understand what you’re getting at, but it seems like you’re saying they would rather have exclusivity over market share. Obviously that’s the opposite of what you want. When you’re running a business you want every man woman and child on Earth to buy three. I think what you’re getting at is that Apple’s marketing pushes HARD on the “buy apple because you’re smarter than the masses” angle (aka “our product gives you identity”) so taking it to the masses via Verizon might make it harder to market that way.
That’s an interesting point really. For Apple to market their product as giving a sense of identity like they do, they have to market it as setting you apart from the masses. So they’d have to spin it a little differently if they brought it to “the masses” on Verizon. Hmm…
I would bet a large chunk of money that this will not happen anytime this year or anytime before 4G gets rolled out everywhere.
First, all the rumors started up saying that Apple and Verizon have engaged in conversations again. The 4th Gen iPhone has been completed and the finishing touches are being put on it. They are not going to change it a month before it gets previewed to switch its network.
Second, the iPad came out on ATT and that was considered the selling point that Apple was not going to budge on top of the fact that they said they are happy with their ATT partnership and do not expect to change.
The cons would be a lot of the bandwidth leechers would be off of ATT and can go clog up Verizons network.
i will fucking shank you
I’d actually respect Apple if they came out today and said, “April fools bitches, we’re sticking with AT&T”.
FUCK
I really really really really hope sprint gets it, but their pockets arent nearly as deep. However, I bet Dan Hesse is a champ at cupping balls, so maybe there is hope.
I really hope Verizon gets it. I’m ready to upgrade my 3g when the new 1ghz iPhone 4 comes out and if I can go to AT&T retention department with the old, “hook me up or I’m leaving for Verizon” I should get a hell of a deal.
Some people on Engadget seem to think Jobs is going to throw this one right back into Verizon’s face? The truth is though, he can’t. All predictions should Android owning the marketshare before long. If Apple wants to stay on top, they need Big Red. My prediction, 6-8 months.
curious as to why you dont want verizon to get it?
Because it’s “in” to own a BB,Droid,Palm, whatever and hate the iPhone.
lol
I think it’s because he has been preaching since the start of the rumors that it will never happen.
I cant stand apple, but thats neither here nor there.
As much as this is already a 2 player game, VZW getting the iphone would destroy sprint even more.
Now, if sprint can grab it, they might actually start gaining customers, instead of just losing them each quarter. Also, if they can roll it out with wimax, that would be a serious marketing opportunity, and all their work on wimax with clearwire wouldnt be wasted.
See, from a partner standpoint, sprint is great to work with. Even ATT can be nice to work with. VZW is… not (to put it nicely).
From an industry standpoint, I see more good coming from it if Sprint gets it. VZW will probably throw fuck-you money at this, and if they get it with LTE… well, wimax’s already numbered days would be even less.
edit: thats not even getting into the fact that apple has been sandbagging this stupid fucking thing since the first version in terms of missing features, and that all of their “innovative” features had been around for awhile. the ONLY thing i will give them is that A: their marketing department is fucking genius and B: their app store is nearly perfect.
my hate even stems back to just ipods. man I hate ipods.
I really don’t give a crap about Sprint and their struggles with mediocrity.
As long as it doesn’t become a one player game the competition will still be there.
eh, theres hardly any competition between big red and big orange. they just copy each other and price fix.
I may jump to verizon because they announced the pimpest android phone to come out this summer and verizon has still not announced a release date for the n1 or incredible. Its god damn frustrating.
hmmmmm
until it is in the store, ready to sell, i won’t believe it. there have been far too many rumors for far too long. that, and i dont care.
of course, i’m not an apple humper.
