thank to dave (Articzap) for helping me out with this one. we got one of my headers wraped, and seena s how it was our first time doing it, i think it turned out really good. we soaked the wrap in water this time (i head u were supposed t do that) and even if thats not what u r supposed to do, it made it a hell of a lot easer. besides the fact that we each got about 50 cuts on hour hands from the stupid metal ties, everything went alright.
i ahd it in my basement overnight and it was still pretty wet. so i put it out in the un today to hopefully aid in the drying process.
wow Im suprised u wrapped coated headers. I was guna wrap mine only cuz they turned to ugly rust. the bastards at jegs sent me non coated when i ordered coated but i was in a hurry to get movin so i used em. For a 1st try looks like you did alright. Are you guna spray paint the wrap black?
they’re not caoted, actually. they’re chrome. i was jsut gonne laeve them white. i had the option to get black wrap, but im fine with the white. it seems like everything is black in my truck (engin included) so just something different i guess.
Thats shits expensive, I just bought some and I was shocked at the price. I found some black colored wrap up at K&S. And yes having it wet makes it muchhh easier to work with
Yes, when it’s wet it’s much easier to work with. (Especially moving it in and out, tee hee)Anyhow, you really should spray it with the high temp black paint. I have a can and a half I didn’t use when I wrapped my downpipe. I will let it go for a free starbucks if you want it. That’s half price at $10.00 a can…
its not black paint. it’s a silicone sealer, so they don;t soak up oil, gas, and burn.
I use coated saftt wire, twist it to tighten (3-5$ tons of uses). Cut the loos ends, and hammer the twist down, so you don’t get cut. Works great, and way cheaper then the $5-7 each stainless tiewraps. or ever cheap hose clamps.
