Online Poker for $$$?

[quote=“boxxa,post:20,topic:36260"”]

I still rather play face to face with someone. Easier to read and I like being social.

Even tho I no longer am allowed to wear headphones at Fallsview due to my singing and dancing at the tables :frowning:

The US made banks not allow deposits to poker sites. Since most poker sites are not hosted in the US, its kind of a pointless law in the aspect of stopping online gambling. The law also doesn’t make it illegal to gamble online, just illegal for sites to accept players which is kinda funny too. The only problem is that many of the cash transfer sites such as Neteller are no longer processing transactions either from US players so they are left to find other methods to deposit.

Some sites I found use different payment processors such as Ultimate Bet that show up different so its not showing up to banks as a poker site when you use a debt card/credit card. Just sometimes hard to get money out unless you wanna wait for a check since you cant transfer money in and out when Neteller worked :frowning:

It was 2/5 and I have fun. I know a lot of people who work there and it was a joke between me and the put boss and the girl I play with a lot.

I’m up $115 today so far… anyone else play poker stars?

i used to make at least $500 a week online playing once or twice a week.

in the past - sometimes i thought it was a scam. seriously… but, really what do the sites have to gain? if you look at the sheer volume of transactions/hands they deal, even a smaller site, they are making 500k to a million bucks a day in rake.

to prove the crazy profit - here’s an example: i play 1/2, they deal about 60 hands an hour per table. about 1/2 the hands are big pot hands, enough that they pull a 2-3 dollar rake. so figure 2 bucks X 30 hands = 60 bucks an hour per table X 24 hours = 1400 bucks an hour x 10-15 tables = 15k to 20k. that’s just from the cash games at one limit.

big tournies are also crazy rakes (5,000 people X 5 bucks for entry is the easiest 25k ever), etc etc.

so really they have no reason to cheat or rig and thus deter players. HOWEVER, people do go on HUGE swings online. playing 1/2 at 4-5 tables at a time, i can easily have a $ 1200 swing in a few hours. it happens, fish hit, stupid players get lucky, but eventually good players profit in the long run.

compared to the casino… yeah you can make money at the casino too, and it is fun… but profit wise sitting at home playing four 1/2 tables online will profit much more than playing just one at the casino. it’s just how it goes.

Question.

How do you add funds to your account? I dont think bank of america will let me.

Prepaid cards?

my bank of america mastercard works fine USUALLY with epassporte…

or you can gamble on various sites - my favorite sport bet site is allpro.com - i’ve never had a problem w/ cc deposits on there.

:bsflag: there’s no way you could make 500 tax free per week and still drive a focus.

edit: unless you have a serious coke habit

^ bwa haha.

technically it’s not tax free… should be reported… the govt. will come get you… … … !!

Key Bank works on Ultimate Bet using it as a debt card.

ePassporte only allows deposits from Visa’s now.

I miss the old days. PokerRoom.com for poker and SportsBetting.com for betting.

Me and ILC would pull in a few hundred a week on average.

fucking stupid US government. like they have nothing better to worry about than people spending their time gambling online…

i remember when party poker announced that they would move their OPS to the US, pay full taxes on everything, run 100% legal… if it were to be allowed by our law… US government’s answer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. so party folded, no tax revenue, and people will STILL continue to gamble and bet and play poker sending more $$$ overseas. s-m-a-r-t!!

Yep. Funny how the US government works. Gambling in general tho has a bad rep. Every time a casino wants to be built in a city, all you hear about is crime and hookers. Honestly, I am at Seneca, Fallsview, and Niagara 4-5 times a week and I have yet to witness a crime or hooker. Its a good industry. As with anything, there are people who abuse it and become broke, etc. but that is the same with anything. People buy too much porn and can go broke.

If the US allowed people to play and required any US company to file tax forms for all its players, it would be a win win situation even when big sites like PP wanna come here.

lol im in the process of getting my poker website up and running now. I would like to get a NY speed poker tournament going on maybe Bodog or something when it is running.

actually there is a group or two on facebook you can join, i forget what it’s called though. we’re always looking for players…

Answer to your online problems…

go play live at the casino and get real experience and read players. although online is a good place to see many hands and learn ur probability… playing at say… Irving seneca casino with a bunch of idiots who just turned 18 and can’t play for shit…is worth the drive for the money you will make if you are half way decent.
