its a 92… yes its tonite…
the job started w/ replacing the alternator… which is done finally… but a few broken bolts happened on the way there… so im kinda replacing a few things w/ bolts from the hardware store… ugh… of course… i havnt started it yet after the alternator install, i still have to get the coolant pump/compressor back on… who knows whats going to happen when i turn the key… im sure the alternator and everything i touched wil fire up just fine… im just worried about something ELSE breaking.
basically… it might be an hour… it might be 4… dont know whats going to happen when i fire up the car…
pm sent
can’t tonight, but if you need help tomorrow shoot me a pm. i’ve got a 93 with stock motor we can compare to if need be, also have a chiltons manual.
still need help, i got tools and a space heater if u got propane.250,000 btus
i can get you a sticker then you can worry about that crap next summer
ok…only problem we are having now is the brake lights… they dont work… fuses are fine but theres no power going into the switch for some reason…
sorry i didnt call i got out a little bit later than expected, looks like you didnt need anyhelp anyway…
ninja came and helped… but we still need to iron out this problem… if anyone thinks they can help please stop by…
somehow the power input to the brake pedal switch is broken from the output of the fusebox…
ok strip a end of wire. wrap it around the fuse for brake light. run jumper wire to foot switch. see if that makes um work. possible a mouse chewed at it
ok ok ok… finally… DONE… for now… fixed so much crap tonite…
as for basic maint:
-oil/filter change
-new coolant
-some tranny fluid additive (to stop the small leak)
-engine cleaner additive
repair wise:
-replaced the 2nd broken bolt, drilled out the threaded hole to make room for a new bolt
this is the broken bolt as it sat before i drilled it out a week ago… what a pain in the dick
-got everything back on from the alternator job
-took a spin to wendys and my brake lights wouldnt work all of a sudden (had this problem at the close of last season, never found the problem as it always happened here and there)
and so begins the electrical fixing
ninja started at the battery/fusebox, i started at the brake switch
1 foot from the brake switch the harness goes behind the firewall insulation and runs from the drivers side to the passenger side where it goes through the firewall, underneath the battery and up to the fusebox…
anywho… i found this little bugger
wtf is this and what is it doing here, it doesnt plug into anything… i tore it apart, the burn mark on the top there gave me the motive to see what was going on inside…
seems like its some sort of little junction box that just jumps the like colored wires together… only inside was terribly rotted out… so i cut the wires from the plug and crimp capped em together… everything works like a charm now
many thanks to teh ninja for teh helpz0r
