Can you feel any pull to one side or the other when you smell it?
Do some investigative work. Take the caliper off and see how everything fits and moves. Save yourself a few bucks and learn a thing or two…
It doesn’t seem like its stopping quite right, a little jerky. No pulling to a side though.
Ive had it apart a few times lately and didn’t notice anything weird.
You’re going to spend a fortune maintaining that thing for the next 76K miles.
It starts with brakes, next thing you know the transmission is shot.
still cheaper than 5-6 years of car payments
why not return the parts to advance and go to napa and get good parts?
Napa brakes r junk !!! Every time we have a issue with brakes it’s a napa component . Go to auto part international and get a set of there posi met pads
thats weird i’ve had napa breaks on all of my vehicles and they have been great for me, i do keep up on preventative maintenance though and i know a lot of people who never touch their brakes after installing them…fords brakes have always been problematic in my experience.
Napa brakes ftw
its not the parts I replaced causing the issue.
I took it to the gym tonight and sniffed the wheels when I got home and the left front still smells a bit.
At this point Ive got no clue what the issue is since Ive replaced everything on that side and Im sick of fucking with it so Ill probably just drop it off somewhere next week.
U sure its the front ?
yeah, I only smell the left front. This thing doesnt seem to stop right either, its a bit odd when stopping.
did you lube anything when you replaced everything? like the ends of the pads where they slide in the caliper bracket for instance
Unless you twisted the shit out of the brake hose installing it, I’m fresh out of internet advice Paul.
I lubed up the whole backsides of the pads
no twists in it.
Jellies get ahold of me sat , ill take a look at it man
shit, I wont be around until later Saturday, probably 5 or 6 because Ive got shit going on until then.
well try putting some lube on the ends of the pads. kinda sounds like you had the same issue i did when i just did my new pads/rotors.
i didnt put enough on the end and it was hanging up one end of the pad and not letting the caliper release all the way. i fixed it in a rest stop on my way to a subaru meet in connecticut :lol
In over 70k Ive never had that issue before though, seems like it came out of nowhere.
The pads on my truck have a weird spring clip holding them together.
sounds like you didn’t clean and lube the slides and carrier correctly.
