overheating brakes

there was nothing to clean on brand new parts. Even the caliper bracket is new.

Brand new caliper, he’s not going to have rust/brake dust on and under the tins, but they put so much paint on those fucking brake pads, you’ve got to grind them down a lot. Could be that.

I had the same issue with old parts though. Seems odd that paint or lack of lube would cause the same issue with the old parts and the new parts, doesn’t it?

The ‘old’ parts had less than 10k on them (except the original hose) and didn’t give me any issues until recently.

yea the shitty wearever pads have a ton of paint on them
grind them down a little bit and they should slide easily in the bracket

I had to tap them into the bracket a little but that seemed normal to me because Ive had to do that before.

You shouldn’t have to force them in. They should just slide in easily. Grind them down a little.

If I get a chance tomorrow after work I might do that. Ive got a bench grinder so it wouldn’t be too hard.

Yeah the ears on the aftermarket pads are crummy. Either the backing plate is not shaped right or the paint they put on them make it bind. They should be able to freely slide in and out of a new caliper without force. I only use shit brand brakes on five dollar beaters.

But do you think the issue would happen with atleast 5k already on the previous set and a few weeks later with the new set?

I replaced the brakes that were on it when I bought it with 48k around 119k or so because the pads were worn and the rotors were warped. I never had any issue with them at all and Im sure the dealer had the cheap pads put on it. They replaced the OEM pads and rotors when I bought it.

There really isnt much to a brake system. If the parts are of decent quality and in good working order it should stop ok and not have strange issues. 99% of brake problems are located from the brake hose down.

Poor labor is to blame. Not the parts. Lol #PJB

I ground down the ears a little so the pads slide freer and lubed where they sit and it still smells like burning brakes after driving it. I give up.

out of all of your friends on here you bring it to mavis? wtf? Haha

I tried one guy and he never called back. I need to go somewhere with the truck tomorrow and need this issue resolved asap.

Thats what I thought too.

Very eager to hear Mavis’s diagnosis.

They couldn’t find anything wrong, everything looked ok except the fronts are getting too hot.
Dc2Nick on here looked at it.

I’m not good enough to look at it?!?
Well maybe I’m not cuz I don’t see anything wrong with it. All slides are free, pads aren’t stuck in bridge, caliper is releasing properly (at least from what I can see).

yep, time for a new truck… told you so

Just run the fuckin thing. Fuck it
