overheating brakes

Gm brakes are so ridiculously easy. It’s almost impossible to FUCK them up

Changing the brakes on my Ford isn’t hard either.

yet you are still having issues with yours…

:lol

its not the installation

Did you ever try getting rid of the cheap aftermarket parts and buy some decent stuff?

No. I bought good parts and not the cheap ones and Im done throwing parts at it hoping something fixes it. I didn’t have any problems with the previous pads for over 5k miles and I know its not the pads because I bought the same ones. Something is causing them to get hot, its not the pads themselves.

I put about 65k on the cheap pads and rotors the dealer had installed when I bought it too.

I wish something would break already so I know what to fix.

They got hot after a drive to Saratoga this afternoon and I could smell brakes when I got home.

Did you take the rear brakes apart yet? Or just visual check?

I know the Chevys stop way better with fresh rear brakes even though the fronts do most of the work.

Didn’t you say those are wearever pads? If so, junk.

New brake hose? Reman caliper ? Ford truck?

I didn’t take the rears apart but they looked good. No wear on the rotors and still a decent amount of pad. Only 30k on them.

I bought the Golds so theyre the better ones. Never had an issue with them before on any vehicle or this one prior to the caliper issue.

You probably got a bad reman. Take it back and get a new one.

Its doing the same thing as the original. I think theres an issue with the master cylinder or a proportioning valve.

I dont have time to fuck with it right now, busy week and weekend this week and I need the truck on Saturday so I dont want to take it apart.

“I’ve never changed the brake fluid on any of my cars.”
-PJB

I really never have. Never had a reason to.

:rofl

paul you do (i hope you do) realize that brake fluid absorbs water over time. its supposed to be changed out every 30-35k

Ive really never bothered changing it completely and didn’t know there was a mileage for changing it. I just bled some out when I replaced the calipers.

Ive also never changed the coolant in this truck.

I thought it was done by time as well. Like every two years it needs to be done.

Flush your brakes Polski.

I dropped it off at a shop tonight and theyre gonna do that and hopefully figure out the issue. Ive got no time or patience to keep fucking with it at this point.

Contaminated fluid and non working rear brakes are the issues. Apparently the pads were hung up in the calipers.

This is after two places told me the rears seemed fine.

I’ll have the truck back tomorrow. A little more than I wanted to spend but I don’t have time to fuck with it and really don’t feel like fucking with it right now anyway. I took it to an independent shop around the corner for convenience and my dad has taken a few of his cars there too.
