pads not properly seated?

i just installed new rear calipers and put everything back together. brakes work fine but now the pads are only contacting the outside edge of the rotor. did i do something wrong or do the pads just need to seat themselves again? i did not change the pads.

Any pictures to show how things look now?

here is a pic through the spoke showing the rotor and caliper. notice the rust on the inside because the pad does not contact it and wipe it off.

Try pushing on the Pad, it may be stuck.

Take a flat head and tap it towards the rotor.

warped rotor, that thing looks ancient! siezed slider pins? if u replaced calipers cause your previous ones were seized, they probably damaged your rotor (depending on how long u drove on them for)? make sure the mounting bracket was tightened on good, and get new rotors from napa if u want them cheap, i got mine for $24 a piece (rears, 5 bolt).

Yes, rotors are very cheap now, I would also highly recommend getting new sliders (those shiny folded metal thingies) when you replace calipers, and using the gold andi-sieze compound on them. And while you’re there, you should probably do your pads too.

Then bed them properly!

The quick fix would be to try and unstick them by some sort of bedding procedure, but if your rotors are too warped, then you’re screwed.
