parking brake turns on when I accelerate

Pretty much said in the title. I drive a 02 Grand Prix. When ever I accelerate a litttle quickly my parking brake light turns on and stay on untill I start breaking again and then it turns off. I don’t know what the prob could be, I break fine and I don’t hear any grinding so I think the pads are ok.

Any ideas

^^^ that was supposed to be not my brother StrokedZ28

it’s probably just the switch. is it on the floor or a handle?

check fuses… my car had an issue with a light bulb in the back and i’d brake/accelerate and id get the hazard light indicators on the dash to light up… it was a bulb or a fuse… i dont remember… ebrake is a cable brake… pedal brakes are hydrolic so those to problems should be independent of another… make sure the switch on the ebrake is making contact when the ebrake is down also

It’s floor IIRC. Try pushing the pedal up all the way with your toe.

Check your brake fluid. The light is for your parking brake and fluid level.

^what he said. I have a '98 gtp, same thing has happned to me.

x2 (except I dont own a gtp)

with what all these guys said. The fluid level decreases as the pistons get pushed further out. which is a good sign that the pads need replacing. Waiting for a grinding noise to replace your brake pads is a good way to end up buying rotors & pads.

and the only on when accelerating is simply the fluid is getting slushed back in the master cylinder and triggering the switch.

CHECK your pads $20 in pads > $100 rotors & 20 pads.
