Passport 8500

ok, so i found my radar laying around and i plugged it in and went for a cruise…

it fucking goes off every 2 seconds, with KA max, and then K, and then KA max and the K… over and over. I dunno if its like overheating… but its def pickin up imaginary cops. in my garage. Its annoying… keeps going into self calibration mode and shit, i lost all the stuff that came with it, so i have no idea what to do to reset it.

anyone familiar?

My 6800 started doing the same thing.

and what did you do about it? :confused

Bought a Valentine 1

is there some place i can get it checked/repaired locally or jsut send it out?

you can send it out to escort, i did but now it’s acting up again 1 year later.

V1 time.

:nod
V1 FTMFW

Off topic, but what makes the V1 better than the Escort? Yeah I know… it has arrows and a rear detector but what about range/sensitivity?

range is about the same…this is how I compare it:

The v1 is like a noble m400, it’s not pretty, it’s not cushy. It’s simple, effective, to the point. when used by a pro it’s unbeatable, but stick a noob behind the steering wheel and it’ll end in tragedy and tickets.

The passport is like the new GTR, it’s got a lot of fancy crap in it, put basically anyone behind the wheel and it’ll be effective, but eventually those cushy extra features will only give you heartache/pain when they fail.

I like how Mike Valentine uses Situational Awareness in his advertising:

Police and the military strive for “situation awareness”. If you know what’s going on all around you, you’re unlikely to be surprised by an ambush. Situation awareness is also the philosophy behind V1. The front and rear antennas, the Radar Locator and the Bogey Counter all work together to keep you informed of What is around you, How Many, and Where.

That pretty much sums it up.

yah… so should i sell the passport the way it is, and say it needs to be sent out, or send it out then sell it?

sell it as is, some noob on ebay will buy it, let them figure it out :rofl

what if i went to like best buy, bought a new one, and returned this one… there are no marks on it, i could just say it was defective?

They sell them at best buy?

DEFINITELY do that then.

range and sensitivity is about the same between the two. i like the larger display. sometimes i dont feel like hearing the loud beep on it, so i leave it on, but at 0 volume and when it flashes at me, i see it flash out of the corner of my eye. the escort has a slim display, so especially during the day, with competing stimuli (sunlight mainly) i prefer the valentines visibility. semantics: it looks like part of my cars interior also. same color, texture and display style and colors. overall, they obviously werent concerned with looks when they made it. thats something i can relate to. i pick out equipment by function>form philosophy and this one hits the spot. they also have those nifty stealth installs and theres also the jammer kit that works with it. so for me personally V1 takes it over the escort. in general? one of these two or dont waste ur money. theyre top 2 worldwide.

Pretty sure there’s no Laser Jammer option for the V1…

heres some stuff that works for it
http://www.everyoneweb.com/inventions/
http://www.blinderxtreme.com/

Yeah but neither of those are made to work in conjunction with the V1, nor are they made by the same companies. The first link you posted is some gimmick passive radar jammer that wouldnt do shit, the second one is a Laser Jammer made by Blinder.

The ultimate combo is V1, blinder M40, and Veil on all reflective surfaces.

Jam-to-gun FTMFW!

i want that blinder front and back package so much :ninja

if the person you return it to does not compair the serial numbers then yeah you could probly get away with it, it just depends on if the person doing the return paperwork actually does their job or not… lol. but heres the thing. best buy will probly send the broken one back to the manufacturer at that point their going to check the serial for quality assurance reasons when they do the paperwork… once somone picks up on the serial being wrong they COULD come after you if you left a paper trail. so… i would advise paying for the new one in cash. problem with buying it in cash is more then likely they wont credit you back with anything other then store credit if you paid in cash… so i would say just buy a new one and call it a day and junk the broken one…
