while i was getting my tires mounted and balanced i see a guy spraying something on his brakes. i’m looking and noticing his arm is moving around the whole entire brake assembly. at first i thought it was brake cleaner but as soon as he moved out of the way i saw it…
idk how I held in my laughter. I played it off nice.
I walked up to the guy and asked him what kind of paint he was using and that it looked sick. he shows me a can of rustoleum spray paint and told me he’s painting his brakes because they’re rusting.
I asked if I could take pic and with an accomplished smile he said yeah.
he moved the truck up 20 feet and parked it to run into the supermarket. I didn’t get to see him drive off.
Yup, I learned this from my bikes disc brakes. Anything thats not supposed to be in the pad that gets absorbed into the pad can cause some strange braking properties, if you are lucky to have brakes at all after the contamination.
The rotors on the Jetta rusted like it was their job.
Forget rain, it could be 90% humidity or just dew collecting in the morning and they rust and squeak until I stop a few times.
Sadly thats how the rotors on the Fit are, only they are quiet. But It can sit out at work during the day for 8 hours and already develop rust freckles on the rotors.
