Just a heads up to the animal owners ;).
7/10 cans i had here were within the serial numbers. i have to take them back to the store…apparently they take them back and exchange them.
my dog has eaten prolly 4 or 5 of these cans, but he is huge and proccesses food pretty easily as it is, i am not worried, he is showing no symptoms.
but i am curious about jeg and the other people who said they have lost a pet recently. boy that would really suck
ya i saw this friday and freaked out. good thing it was only for wet food.
This company makes food under a variety of names.
The recall covers the company’s “cuts and gravy” style food, which consists of chunks of meat in gravy, sold in cans and small foil pouches between Dec. 3 and March 6.
The pet food was sold by stores operated by the Kroger Co., Safeway Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and PetSmart Inc., among others, Henderson said.
An unknown number of cats and dogs suffered kidney failure and about 10 died after eating the affected pet food, Menu Foods said in announcing the North American recall. Product testing has not revealed a link explaining the reported cases of illness and death, the company said.

Sorry, had to.

And this is why I only feed my dog quality food, not wal-mart brand crap. Neither one has ever had a digestive problem.

ummmm… this is not walmart crap. i pay 14.00 for an 8 pound bag… same company that had issues with the wet food.

I used to feed my dog Nutro when she was a puppy. That was 3 years ago though.
haha Ol’ Roy…Clark Griswold bought that in Christmas Vacation.
it’s funny how all these brands probably claim to have a proprietary formula… 30 companies… same shit.
This is what I made that statement based on:
But now in Howie’s thread it lists a whole bunch of brands. Looks like I’ve got some more research to do.
OK, further reading has me eating my words. Even the expensive brands used contaminated wheat gluten from the same source. So for now I’m glad my dogs only eat dry kibble since the recall only applies to wet gravy-style foods, but now I’m hoping they don’t expand the recall to dry foods.
Anyone know the serials or are there to many to list?

***** RECALL EXPANDED *****
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/03/23/pet.food.recall.ap/index.html
They found rat poison in the food, and have expanded it to all date codes of the “cuts and gravy” food.
my pug was puking up blood. poor guy he loves his wet food too…vet checked him out and he is good to go now.
we have had 3 cases so far at the animal hospital I work at… and about 100000 calls from crazy old people who worry way too much about their animals, and have the need to call us “just to make sure their dry food is unaffected”
