I see that point. I like seated presses too…I do them as well. I like standing SP b/c they help strengthen a lot of other muscles at the same time, and I am not that much weaker on standing than seated. That is one of the reasons why I stay away from the Smith machine (and other machines)…that and the fact that it keeps you in a fixed range of motion that at times (more often than not) will put you in a unnatural range of motion…which in the long run can be hard on your joints and cause injuries.
