Pittspeed Fitness & Nutrition thread update:

Hell, I was lifting 5 days a week, eating 6 meals a day, and it took me a year to gain 5 pounds. Hardgainer is an understatement. So I can empathize with the flipside of losing weight.

they’ll be Nelson dismantling pecs of death by the end of summer.

wtf metabolism!

wanna trade for a couple months?

:rofl::rofl:

:mrT:

Great job! I am curently trying something similer, except i have cut all simple carbs out of my diet, but i am not cutting a lot of the sat fat out(but am keeping it reasonable). I stopped smoking Nov '04(i smoked for 33 years), and i packed on 50 pounds i could ill afford to gain. Last December i went over 300#,a nd it scared the fuck out of me. I see my doctor every 6 months, and i get a blood test. We finally got my cholesterol down and my BP is good, but now my blood sugar is up and i am borderline diabetic. I have always been very healthy, an di dont like this bullshit, so i decided i needed to do something about it.
I went on the diet (basically its south beach) in early January. So far i have lost approx 30#. I am hoping to get down to 225, and i am hoping to do that by the end of 06.
Congrats!! :bigok:

diet alone = minimal gains

exercise alone =minimal gains

exercise + diet = excellent gains

exercise burns calories, but its real bonus is raising your metabolism. Then you’ll be burning a lot more calories ALL the time, even when you’re not exercising. Also, eating a lot of smaller meals throughout the day > eating one or two big meals.

Good job bro…keep it up. For all you hardgainers…all I had to do was get an office job and now I am 207…sucks though I am not as cut as I used to be. I am lifted somewhat consistant, but now I am on a mission. I am eating a little better and lifting 5 days/week. My goal is to be a man amongst boys (words of Deon Sanders) :slight_smile:

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I can remember back to the original F&N thread (Attn:1320) and remember 1320 saying he was 235lbs. I remember thinking “god I wish I could get down to that weight!”

:kekegay:

SleeperGTP’s gonna get pwned in Pittspeed BBQ football this fall

other than taking really gay pictures, good job

i never took any gay pictures like that till I started hanging around Corbin and Whitey.

congrats! i’m gonna try to lose a little weight myself. i just got the ab lounge and my mom got an elliptical for the both of us. this weekend i was gonna go to dicks and buy the power tower… maybe i wont even need to go to a gym!

on a side note, just got back from the gym. Did and abbreviated workout cause I’m feeling a little sick. 2 sets each of curls, bench press, incline bench press, and whatever you call the one where you put your knee on a bench and lift up a dumbbell straight up off the floor. then 15 min on the stationary bike, 15 min in the eucalyptus room, 15 in the sauna and 10 in the spa. bowl of special K for breakfast, tuna on wheat sandwich and a grapefruit for lunch with a whey protein shake and a fish oil cap. :wiggle:

i kinda like going to the gym. Cause once I’m there, I have the motivation/lack of distractions to actually do it. If I had all that equipment on one side of my house, and my nice comfy couch on the other side… well… the couch would usually win.

I lift in my basement, I’ve got a ton of free weights, never been to a gym in my life. I’ve got a treadmill too. I’ll usually run one day and lift the next.

oh and I live on whey protein, aleast 80g a day

you have more motivation than me. I can’t workout at home. I end up looking up porn on the net then going to bed. I get a good hour of lifting at the gym.

I am thinking about taking a supplement but I can’t find one I like. I am starting to get to the point where my muscles hurt like a mother on the off days, kinds like they can’t grow fast enough. :dunno: What does the protein do?

Wow mikey! That is awesome!

I only wish I could have commitment like you dude, i need to take my 5’10" 225 ass down some for sure.

when you lift your breaking your muscles down, protein builds them back stronger afterwards, rest is critical to gaining mass

also protein is good if you need energy, it doesn’t get you going like carbs but it doesn’t let you down as fast. When your trying to burn fat and gain muscle protein is the most important part of your diet. Not just whey though, you need meat too.

I’ve heard of people taking as much as 1g per pound of body weight daily to sustain muscle mass.

I’ve noticed that the past couple of years also. Then I realized that I was over 30. Lot of joint cracking on the warmup sets too. :smiley:
