My dad’s had the RMS go from basically not being driven enough.
x…
Doubt I’d have that issue, since I’d be DDing it (yeah, even in winter).
That is one of the best write ups I have seen on the issue, been lusting after a 911 for a while mentally and doing some reading on the subject, but still dont know if I will buy one or not. Wish GT3’s were a little cheaper, same with 997 turbos too.
The more I dug into 911’s the more I learned about engine issues they have. That made me lean more to the vette for what I want in a car. I was also looking early 2000’s at a lower price point + I planned on a lot of track time. Instead I bought a diesel SUV and a trailer rather than a sports car.
Lamest decision making process ever…
I wanted a sweet performance car found out I couldn’t afford the engine issues -> Wanted a less sweet performance car -> ended up buying something that has nothing to do with performance a diesel SUV.
I was trying to balance cost to race VS fun to race (lots of track time) and I was much much more comfortable with racing my SHO at the ragged edge where it is fun and I don’t think I would have it in me to drive a 20K car at the same level. If I put the SHO into a wall it is really no big deal to me, but if I cracked up a 911 I would be a big deal for me. I am not in a position to write off a 20K car if I crash it. So rather than selling the SHO, my S4, and my A4 waggon and having a 1 sweet car I bought a nice tow rig and a trailer so if I blow it up or crash the SHO i still get home with no worries. My budget was 20-25K and that is what I spent. That budget left a lot of options open for me. From a racing standpoint for my situation a corvette makes the most sense, but from a fun to drive standpoint the SHO made the most sense at the time for me. For me fun is driving on the edge of what the car can do not necessarily having the best lap time. I don’t regret my decision but thanks for thinking racing cars is lame

If that were true I would completely true have bought the V6 version not the twin turbo V10
Yes!!!
In for trailer hitch installation.
The one thing I will say here, is that you WILL miss the cargo space you have now. I know it doesn’t seem like a big issue, but I’ve been there. Even grocery shopping in 350z roadster was a pain in the ass. A few cases of soda and a handful of bags, and all of the sudden my groceries were piled up on the passenger seat. I had multiple times where I’d be out and about, stop at a store and buy something random but sort of large (like plastic storage bins), then I get out to the car, realize there is no place to put it, and end up with the women carrying it on her lap until we get home.
Roadsters are great, but after a year or so you’ll get really sick and tired of going back home for wifey’s car. Even the Honda Civic coupe that we have is a massive space upgrade to the 350z roadster.
The 2012+ Boxsters look 1,000 times better than any previous generation.
I’d wait for one of these to come down and get a much nicer interior/much more aggressive exterior.
you need a Murano, you want a convertible, isn’t the answer obvious?

Seriously though, along the lines of somedude’s logic, this is more 4 wheel off-able than a p-car:

Although my vote would be V6 3rd gen.
You’ve obviously never seen the trunk in a GTO. I wouldn’t be giving up much cargo hauling.

lol, man that cross-cab is ugly.
I’ve decided I’m going to stop wasting money on making my street car more trackable (and worse on the street) and just come to you for a rental spot in a lemons car. That plus one track day a year in the GTO/Boxster where I just run it at 8/10th and be happy is fine.
not the turbo
eek, just looked it up. 7.0 to my civic’s 11.5. Who would have thought that trunk would be so small?
It isn’t in Australia. Over there the gas tank is under the trunk but it wouldn’t pass our crash regulations. GM then relocated the tank between the trunk and the rear seat back, loosing about 1/2 of the trunk space in the process. The space you’re left with is mostly useless, especially since they used those typical GM trunk hinges that intrude completely into the space.
go gm!
I like what you’re thinking.
I want to see you tow a snowmobile trailer with the Boxster.
Yeah, I was thinking about that. Probably going to have to rely on the Murano quite a bit more for towing duty if this happens.
The other car I’m really considering is the Vette though, so that really doesn’t change anything.
