Just a random question but if I wanted to start shooting and wanted to buy a target rifle do you need any special permits? Or is it just background check and you’ve got a gun?

Well, whenever I buy pistol ammo I get carded for my pistol permit. I dunno how these dudes do it that don’t have a pistol permit.
Yeah I know there’s tons of restrictions on hand guns but what about rifles and the like? Theoretically could I. Just go into a gun shop and as long as my background is clean walk out with a gun join a shooting club and be on my way?
Yep. They do an instant background check. No permit needed on rifles and shotguns. Rarely there may be up to three days delay, but I’ve always had my checks done in 5-10min maximum. Let me know if you’re interested in shooting sometime, I’d be glad to take anyone.

Only certain places will ask for a pistol permit, Wal-Mart being one of them. I’ve never got asked for one at a gun shop, as I’ve bought 9mm and .40 before no problem at all for my Kel-Tec carbines/rifles.
As per NYS law, you do not need a pistol permit to buy pistol caliber ammunition. You just need to be over 21 I believe.

Yea. I bought my first AR about three years ago, along with several other rifles. It’s our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms, everyone who has a stable mentality and isn’t a criminal should own at least one gun.

I ordered a Vortex SPARC red dot, and the red logo will be going away once I can find a grease gun mag conversion for sale somewhere as it requires a new lower receiver/pistol grip and stock. Fake suppressor could happen eventually. Too much $ for something not functional.
