Power window and power lock problem

hi, all. Ive finally come around to have some time to touch up and fix a few things with my 1990 240sx. First of all my main concern right now is my passenger power window function. On the driver side, my power window control for the passenger doesnt respond. Only the passenger side can roll the windows up and down. Second my locks dont work properly. I have to lift up the door handle (while the door is locked) and close the door in order for it to lock. The same goes for my passenger side too. Im not to sure if its the power lock motors but everytime i lock the driver side i always hear a mechanical clicking sound. Can anyone please give me sum advice on this?

Pull the door panel off and get to the source of the problem. The power window regulator is very prone to breaking.

I had a bad connection to the panel door panel too. When I tried to roll the window down it would click but there would be no reponse. Pulled the door panel off secured the harness and fixed it.

Uhh, the lock thing is normal. Alot of Japanese cars have dummy locks.

Dummy locks are pretty much the most evil innovation ever, especially when the handles on your beater are fucked. :grrr

Only for dummys…and all my passengers who are like WTF is up with your door. I usually just wait in the truck and wait for them to close the door and then close it the right way from the inside. :rolleyes:

Like mentioned, it’s called a dummy lock. It’s so that people don’t lock thier keys in their cars, in theory.

Also, when you lock your drivers door and the passenger does as well… that’s the power locks.

Blasted dummy locks! I wonder if there’s a way to disable that. That’s something I’ll have to check into next spring when I’m eliminating all of the stupid squeaks & rattles :?

Short story:

I had my keys in my ignition once and was closing my door (locked) and thought at the last second about where my keys where and was like “FUCK!” I stopped mid stride and was lucky enough to have only closed my door halfway. (you know, when the is on the hinge) Just gave the door a push and the lock poped up…so its saved my dumass atleast once.

Any other time I lock my keys in my car I just call kent…his 240 keys work in my truck, but mine wont work in his…Seriously, go around to different nissans…I bet you will find one that your key will open!

ahhaha thx guyz ill try that sometime. ahah dummy locks pretty smart! ahah oh yea i forgot to mention i duno if the power locks are sensitive or sumthin but one time in the summer it was sooo hot the locks wouldnt lock, as in when i lock my driver side it also locked my passenger side but all of a sudden it unlocked itself both driver side and passenger side. i think i need new locks :frowning:
