I have an S13a hatch and I love their look. Having never driven, or even ridden in an S14, I have no opinion on their performance, but I do like their look.
I would take the S13 hatch, because the plans I have for modifying it wouldn’t be applicable to the S14. And when completed, I think my customized S13 would look better than any car. Obviously biased.
Looks: I think the s15 smokes both the s13, s14 and 180sx body styles bad. It has a more agressive stance and appearance. The s13’s interior is dated like mona lisa. It needs a body kit to modernize it’s look to make it acceptable by 2005 standards. The s14’s is the best looking of the bunch in north america.
Well, I sat in and drove (for a short period) a zenki S14 this weekend, and I wasn’t impressed at all. While the interior is newer-looking, I find the S13 interior still looks better. Also my doors close with a suprisingly solid thunk (even thou they’re frameless), and this car’s doors closed with a weak, hollow, rattly feel. The seats also didn’t feel as nice, and the guy’s clutch was harder than a priest in a playground. Well, obviously it could’ve just been the one I drove, and the S14 could really be better than the S13, but I’m just telling you my experience, my S13 hatch vs my friend’s S14 zenki.
I guess everyone would say that their own vehicle is their favourite. I dunno about you, but i hated my car, learned to appreciate as time went by. my Z32 is wayyyy better!! When you go from a z32 an into an MCS14 (minor change s14)…its crap.
the z32 is freakin sexy, but without the twin turbos and the shorter wheelbase, i dunno, its kind of a toss up, although the interior rules on the z32! leather, of course (most ladies i know like cloth though). care to enlighten me on the pros and cons of the 2 cars? i kinda like the koiki s14 better than a 2+2 z32, although its very close, and i have no idea how an NA z32 performs.
the cloth interior on the s14 isn’t so striking, i shoudl post up some pics of before and afte on my interior, and u may have a different point of view solarian.
I had 2 s13 hatchbacks and now I drive a coupe. I like the coupe way better than a hatch back. I like the way it looks better, I find it’s quiter than the hatch due to enclosed trunk space. It’s also lighter.
To Solarian… Stiff clutches are good, go work out.
To sr20det… 180sx is still an s13, no need to place it in a seperate category.
If I had a choice between s13 and s14, I think I would still choose s13 because it’s cheaper, there’s less wiring problems (I mean little things, like s14 dash removal to get to certain wires, etc.)
I know, but his rattled, while mine close with a solid thunk. The frameless on my celica also slightly rattle, that’s why I was very impressed by this S13 when I went to buy it. It “feels” very new and solid, hard to explain.

…
We aren’t comparing minor imperfections between your car and your friend’s car.

^^^all u gotta do is tighten a few screws, window/door regulators get used alot more on the drivers side, thats why they get loose and rattle after time.
that is hardly a reason as to why the s13 is better than an s14. i’ve heard s13 doors rattle horribly.
Pavel, there really aren’t any wiring issues with s14’s, unless u wanted to get to the heater core, i can’t see why you would need to pull the dash cover??
Well, I did say I only have MY S13 and HIS S14 to compare between And I just happen to think mine’s better

hey, you’re entitled to your opinion, to each their own, lets just say meet up with Phil or myself and we may be able to change your mind, thats all!!!

And to Gt Greg I always thought
1995-1996 S14B (Before Change)
1997-1998 S14A (After Change)
Isn’t that how they are classified
[/quote]
most people classify it as A being first, and B being second edition…
then theres zenki and kouki, and then theres even s14 and s14 m/c (meaning minor change)
so there are a few different ways of classifying them.
I drive a S13 because it was dirty cheap, and I won’t care if I slam it into a wall or pole. Just salvage the parts over to the next car.
S14mc’s would be my preference, and maybe I’ll pick up one of those down the road. The chassis is stiffer, and it doesn’t look too dated.
S15 is just sex, and I’ll sell my girlfriends panties on Ebay to own one. It’ll take a while, but by then the 15 year mark will come around.
