nice job psphinx81 (paul) and 05orangess (chris) on completely installing my clutch wrong
these are a few pics of it on my car
when i pulled off my tranny
i have witnesses that saw it like this as soon as the tranny was pulled
i can assure you it was not TAMPERED with before the pictures
here is what the clutch looked like when i pulled it off my car and put it on my kitchen counter
the floater plates were jammed and needed to be pryed off a bit to separate them
here is how the clutch should be
this is a picture of it when i told my mom to place it on how she thought it would be placed on
here are some pics of the damage that was caused by the quality work
i called quartermaster themselves
they asked me if i hired 2 monkeys to install it and said that they have never seen anything so stupid and said that the whole clutch needed to be replaced
i have been trying to get a hold of paul and chris for the past week or so but havent had any luck
only luck i have had was a call from chris bitching me out for telling people about this behind his back and how it was bothering him
(here you go chris hope this doesnt bother you too much)
i know that i hired them to install my clutch and it is not a shop
so i dont want to hear the obvious of i should have went to a shop
if your gonna say that dont even bother posting in here
but i paid them to install everything correctly and i paid alot of money for this clutch too
i feel as though chris and paul should be purchasing me a new clutch for installing it incorrectly
or at least giving me some sort of money to purchase a new one
just wanted to start a new thread so it could be discussed here
general auto seemed like a good place to start

edit: forgot to mention
while chris and paul worked on my car they forgot to take a bolt out of my transfer case where it bolted to my tranny
and while prying they cracked the corner off my bell housing on my tranny

Great way to ruin a 1700 dollar clutch :banghead: I feel for ya man, but as we discussed its unlikely that this will go anywhere other than creating awareness, also I think the feedback from paul will be minimal, as he is in the garage now “Re-Installing” his clutch
As a service manager.I would be held liable to replace everything we destroyed for free.As a friend helping you out because they saved you labor.To save a friendship I would reimburse you what you gave me.Financially that is my only responsibility.As a person who does work on the side I have no implied warranty or liability. That is why I leave everyones lugs loose.

This is why I don’t do automotive “side work” for friends. Unless you are 150% confident in your abilities, you shouldn’t touching other people’s shit. Fucking up your own shit is bad enough, but when you fuck someone else’'s up, and it costs them thousands to fix, you are automatically an asshole for it.

only reason i had them do it over myself doing it was because i had surgery and was unable to do the work myself

Couldn’t you just file the damage and re-install with those gouged posts? It looks like it would be fine if installed back in correctly as there is a lot of solid material there. The silver pieces hold the black posts tight when properly installed, right? With no movement, it’d probably be fine.
Or, do those metal “fins” move up and down on the posts? I’m not really sure what I’m looking at. Filing wouldn’t work in that case as the metal would snag on the gouged/filed areas.
i totally agree, nothing against mike but thats what i told him and he knows it. but in his defense everyone on here that knows chris and paul knows that they supposedly know their shit when it comes to evos, apparently not. he trusted them and their knowledge and it screwed him.
i was going to have paul and chris install my fp green and other said mods but after one night they broke off a piece of my fuel rail and scrathced my car on the fender. after that i obv said no and took it to mike at innovative. they were mad but i dont give a shit because i paid the extra cash to get the job done right and im happy.
my comments that i’ll leave are those and that, one paul you should take yours out and fix it because it’s WRONG, and two is paul and chris you two should man up and buy mike the whole clutch. its not fair that you guys are supposed to be mikes friend and you wont do that. as for the install all i can post is :picard:
i asked quartermaster what they thought with it and if it could be fixed
they said it would need to be replaced completely
they said it might be able to be fixed but they wouldnt chance anything
the “fins” move up and down on the posts and that is how the clutch engages and disengages
and they could not be filled and such because its an aluminum pressure plate and with heat they have a chance of moving and not sitting how they should
Just curious, what kind of noise did this make or how did you know something was wrong? You would think they could have noticed something was wrong right after the install if they tested it out.
this doesn’t really seem like an issue with “knowing evos” in particular. It is a clutch install. Albeit not an ordinary one, but as previously stated, it seems pretty obvious the way it was originally installed was VERY incorrect.
here is what happened…
i noticed my car was leaking brake fluid and my master cylinder was empty
what had happened from the incorrect instal was that the throw out bearing was moving around alot and ended up tearing up the seals on it and the seals were leaking brake fluid into my tranny
i pulled my tranny to fix the leaking and discovered more was wrong rather then just the seals
unfortunetely even the tob is messed up because of the movement and is all scored up and cant be fixed
sorry for the ramble of thoughts, i am in cali right now on vacation and only purchased an hour of internet and am trying to get as much info out before my time runs out :lol:
