professional clutch install :picard:

Obviously I don’t know any of you guys personally… but this is how I would work it out.

Refund? Absolutely.
They should also be responsible for replacing anything that was damaged from their work and pay for a competent shop to do it. If this is your primary source of transportation, they should also provide you with temporary transportation while someone else fixes your car.

If Paul said his was in the same way, at least he is admitting fault. He can’t say the clutch or pics were tampered with if he himself thinks that is a professional clutch install.

That is the only way to save the friendship.

Friends don’t charge friends for working on their cars. If you can’t do it for free, supervised by your other friend… don’t do it at all. If you can’t do it right, don’t do it at all… unless it is something you can afford to replace ASAP.

bored cripple says

Lol at no response from either guilty party. :roll2:

Wow, I really hope you get ALL your money back and some extra for whatever else is messed up.
Good Luck

And so it begins… reading.

lol joe

yikes.

I mean, really? The guys could fuck up a puzzle.

So to be sure i understand- You paid 2 non-professional automotive (read:backyard) guys to install a clutch ( a $1700 clutch), instead of spending the money to a qualified shop, and now theres a complaint as to the install.
Big surprise-You lose. shoulda spent the money on a real shop

Meh, i figured Paul would know what he’s doing…

obviously this is a much more complicated clutch install than the srt-4 clutch i put in my car, what kind of clutch is this exactly and how does it work? ive never seen anything with “teeth” on it before, is it modular? im assuming non-modular because it wasnt assembled when ya received it, and i would assume it could only be assembled one correct way or fitment would be perfrect/or work, i just find it bizare that things got this out of hand, didnt it come with instructions or something for the avg guy? i cant believe it sorta went on a different way than the “right” way, sorry this happend, mistakes definitley get made, whoever did it should pay ya back and say theyre sorry, thats all they can really do, cause theyre not gonna reinstall it =p

This completely baffles me.

Edit: It’s a twin disc.

Wow, just wow. How much labor was charged?

i thought so, but they dont just come ready to be bolted in? that would probably have prevented this, im sure this isnt the first time this has happend to someone

ugh i hate to see this shit among friends.

I help my friends with things, they help me in return. What the eff is with charging friends to work on cars?

I hope everything gets resolved.

Well, I don’t think they came over to help him, they did it for him. I pay friends when they go out of their way to help me.

QFT
Absolutely fucking right. You do it for free there’s no litigation involved if something goes wrong. End of story. I help my friends out for beer or when I need help they return the favor…thats friendship.

Real Friends help you out and dont expect anything in return.

Joe that just needs a BFH

Jesus Christ, lol!!!

I will HELP someone do work on their car. Hell I will even let them use my garage and tools while I give them a hand if needed. However if someone wants to just drop something off and pick it up finished and or just sit there while I do 100% of the work…

They are getting charged.

However if I charged for something and I broke it I would stand behind the work.
