Project 180sx Kouki Update! *Pics*

I already told you at the SQ1 meet, but you’re car is hot and you’re doing an amazing job.

I’d love to see before pics :stuck_out_tongue:

Keep us posted!

It looks great bro, good job, I can’t wait to see it when it’s all complete.

Looks good.

Theres another guy around with a 180sx kit, seen him at woodbine & 16th before. His front bumper is smashed up and his rear bumper looks like its held up with tape or string.
Anyone know who it is?

Thats gorgeous thats what I like tosee!

thx thx
and damn ur car look nice [/quote]

I can’t remeber the name of the place, since I bought the motor like 2 years ago. They didn’t have much SR20 stuff, they mainly dealt with Honda’s. The motor was very clean and ran good compression, but it was missing the MAF and they gave me the wrong ECU. If you are looling for a SR20 talk to Varun (aka slipperysilvia). He can hook you up with a very clean SR20. Give him a call (416)910-5550. Hope this helps.

Here are some “before” pics as promised. I posted these pics a while back. This way you can see the transition the car took to its current stage. I will try to get a spec lists up and post my 1/4 mile timeslip once I find a good scanner. Enjoy.

This was the week the transmission blew. It was decmeber then, and me and my buddies pulled some long hours in a frezzing cold garage that winter.

As you can see the KA was not in the greastest shape.

This was the deconstruction stage.

Here it is at the body shop. They cut out all the rusted metal and welded new metal in. Also did a mock-up of the Kouki body kit.

As you can see there was quite a bit of body work. I would have been better off with a cleaner rolling chasis, but I had a lot of centimental value for this car.

This is it back from the body shop. The shop took close to 8 months to give me back the car. They were very understaffed.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/Sonic180sx/interiorout.jpg
All the door jams and interior was painted. The shop also took the windows out when the car was ready for paint.

Here is the assembly stage, which took way too long in my mind.

Wow that’s amazing stuff…

Can you tell me how much it costs for all the body work? Seems like an amazing paint job and looks like a lot of work was done to fix the rust and what not.

PM me if you dont’ want to post, I’m just wondering how much a job like that would cost…

Yea, thats a crazy restoration. I would also like to know how much it costed and wher you got it done.

really impressive

likely the best built car on the board as far as tearing it to the shell and having a good frame resto and paint job and then putting it together with nice parts. dont know how nice the install is on the motor but i’m assuming since its driveable it can’t be that bad.

just need mags now!!!

i love the enkei wheels derek wants the ywould look sex on your car and the yare cheap chea pcheap with nice size and offsets!

Thanks again guys for the compliments. A lot of hard work went into the project. The main goal was to do a proper restoration. I originally wanted to strip the whole car, as in taking out all the wiring, brake booster, steel lines, and so on. But that was too much of a task. Even though I stayed pretty organized when we stripped down the car, by putting bolts and nuts in ziplock bags, when it came down to reasemble there was a lot of missing stuff. I had go through a few scrap cars, and even the dealer(very costly) to find what I needed.

As for the cost of the restoration, all I know is that I paid quite a bit of coin. I went to a shop where they charge $125/hr. The shop’s name is Picasso Auto Collison, some of you might have heard of it. They are located 407/Jane area. I had mixed feelings about them. First off, I was guaranteed good work, which I got. The guy you see working near my car in one of the “before” pics is an old experienced body technician that came out of retirement. So I was glad to see him work on the car, than an undrepaid apprentice. That was all good, but the owner promissed me that the car would be out in 2 weeks, which was too good to be true. I ended up getting the car after 10 months. Also the original quote he gave me, significantly increased once they got a better look at the rusted chasis. The original quote was given to me after the owner glimsped at the car during a drak rainy day. Guess he didn’t realize the condition until they borught it into the shop. All in all, I wouldn’t go back to them…the work they did was great, but they are terribly understaffed and there was tons of communication problems.

Thanks Sasha…As for wheels the FN01RC’s will serve me for the time. Just got to buy tires for them. I still have my eyes on the Advan TCII, but the are extremley costly.

Hey, Have any more pics of your car with rims or not from different Angles??

I haven’t really taken any pics recently since the car is in storage. I still got get some tires to fit on my wheels, and I still gotta install the 5-lug and brakes. There are some other things I gotta fix up, especially the interior. I will try to take some pics when the weather gets better.

 beautiful

cant wait to see everything pieced together n on the road.

Very nice. Looks like a lot of hard work and hard time put into it. Cant wait to see what its gonna look like when its all finished. Love the paint too! :thumleft:

sweet!

that is undeniably sexy. If i had the cash i would do a very similar job to what you are undertaking.

woah that is very impressive!!

lots of time and effort spent on ur baby!

makes me wonder wouldnt it be cheaper to buy a real 180sx type x
