Finally! After many months of searching and a year of dreaming, today i became the proud new owner of a 1991 Base model Red 240sx!
The car is rough and needs alot of work. i just had it towed home today at around 12. As it is my first car/build/project my dad is a bit skeptical.
The story is anthony hooked me up to the manager of Morningside Nissan who was selling this for a friend. Alex gave me 4 days to look over the car and buy it before he would pick it up. So i hurried to give it a quick look.
For 1 grand:
a hole in both rockers, about 2 or 3 inches accross, hole in driver side frame, also 3 inches accross. passenger rail the front section seems to be coming apart, needs reinforcement
swapped engine with 80 clicks, chassis has 260 (but distributor is done)
fuse box looks to be wired funny
car was sitting for a while looked to house some kind of rodent as the cloth section under the hood has a hole in it.
new ngk hotwires
didnt have time to take off the valve cover, but peered in through the oil cap, camshaft seems to look a bit weird
ant and spider investation all over the car, especially bad behind the front pass fender (any tips?)
interior looks really mint no rips in seats anywhere, carpet needs to be vaccumed and all dead bugs and alive need to be owned.
needs a new battery
definetely needs 4 new tires for a safety
e brake is super tight, but not siezed
I have no idea what else will be needed for it to run as alot of stuff looks really sketchy, but i’m optimistic. I’m not particularily knowledgeable so it wouldnt hurt if someone better oriented with s13s came some time to give me a hand.
Anyways in short i’m very happy with my new car, i cant wait to get started on it. Next monday will be my last day of exams, and then i’ll have 4 weeks to work on the car till i’m off to JDM-land. Then i’ll be back around mid/early august and i’ll have another 3 weeks to get the car ready as i’ll be needing to to go to school in waterloo.
If anyone wishes to lend a hand you are more than welcome to join me since i’ll be having alot of trouble on my own.
List of things i’ll need:
new/working distributor
battery
4 new tires (i wanna get some stock 7 spokes… i just love the look when they’re powdered black)
someone who can patch
Pictures will come tomorrow hopefully if i’m not too busy, i dont think i can make it out to the meet but count on me being an official member by summer’s end and making it out to at least 1 track meet.
Btw: The car currently sits without a projectname/name i’ve been calling it “car” for the last day.
Thanks for the read, i guess this will be my future build thread,

That’s a rough car but finally you have a NISSAN.
Do you plan on driving it in the first three weeks?
Terry, I have a Flux Core (almost full MIG) welder.
I wouldn’t use it for any body work BUT it is perfect for that frame rail patching. I used it almost exclusively on my Datsun, and have used it for a few things on my 300ZX.
hey if you dont want it ill buy it off you!!! :R also im pretty sure there is a shit load of ppl here who can help including me. after all i am the one who found it haha… but seriously if you dont want it i got dibs on buying it off you :A
The welder??? No no no… You misunderstood. I’ll lend it for the welding.
That welder has been a lifesaver for me non stop. Easier and stronger than an Arc Welder, and not so big and bulky as a full MIG with the gas etc. Get a nice penetrating bead and you’re gone clear.
I don’t think I’ll ever sell this welder. I’ve had it for years and done so many things with it. They’re cheap at Crappy Tire or Princess Auto. Or search Craigslist or Kijiji for a nice cheap used one.
The Cherry Picker might be going back. Bountywolf called me for purchase/rental this morning. He bought Dells engine and wants to work on it.
I have all the original packaging and receipt for it to go back, just need to find the time to take it back
i dunno…its been on my mind for a while now…but…i think shes not ready to be named…maybe once theres been more progress made on her lol…like a nice paint job…and a new set of shoes…haha but that wont be for a while
Okay so i woke up this morning, studied abit for my exams then went outside since i now had daylight, to look over the entire car. There’s alot of rust around the car in general but not unsavable, some odd rust i found was under the rear brakelights (maybe thats normal?) so i’ll be looking at dismantling all the bumpers around and fixing the rust in the cracks and seeps.
I have also thought of a project name!
PROJECT PYCC (pew yee cheh cheh)
And now, to the pictures!
My pretty baby sitting in the driveway!
I’m so happy it has those second set of clear lights under the signals.
Gotta get rid of those hubcaps!
Originally dusty from sitting, but shiney now that it got its first wash!
Nice rustless hatch!
Bit of bubbles on the pass quartpanel
Passenger rockers need a good fixing!
Passenger frame rail
Driver side Rocker looks bad
Driverside frame rail needs a good patch
Engine pics! Note the bit of rust on the driverside strut tower…
NGK hotwires add some colour contrast! kade 80,000 swapped by tigerjapan a couple years ago.
Anyways this was a good period of relaxation, back to calculus!
Thanks to everyone for volunteering tools and services! it’ll be another 9 days till i get to do any real work. In the mean time i need to look for a distributor. If anyone has hook ups let me know!
