pro's and con's... turbo charging vs supercharging
i was referring to the turbo itself heating up…

it’s way too easy for a turbo to heat up, and for grass/leaves/random garbage and/or paper on the street to get blown up under your car, and ignite when hitting the turbo…this is obviously worse case scenario…but still a possibility…
ok, valid. but i wouldnt base your decision on which to go with on this rare what if scenario.

wow talk about a stretch lol

 1. headers in an NA or S/C’ed application get pretty much just as hot (at least hot enough to ignite things)
 2. The chances of leaves or paper getting sucked up into the engine bay while the car is moving is basically slim to none due to the pressure diff. between the enginebay and the air passing underneath.
 3. Valid point if ur running an STS kit, but then you’d deserve it if it started on fire

it is a stretch…but i’ll never forget replacing my battery, which is located about 6 inches away from the passenger side turbo…i take the old battery out, look at/under the tray, and see tons of leaves…literally, several handfulls, completely dried out…probably had been sitting there for a long time…no idea how the hell they could have gotten there, but they were there…

So he traps 130+, but what does he ET? STS kits have made a name for themselves not being able to perform at the track.
It’s tough to judge any big power adder for the GTO by ET.

 1. IRS isn’t ideal for 1/4 mile.
 2. 3800lbs isn’t ideal for 1/4 mile.
 3. Not being able to fit more than a 275 tire under the rear fenders without breaking out the plasma cutter isn’t ideal for 1/4 mile.

If you’re trying to build a 1/4 mile beast the GTO is a bad place to start. Sounds like Steve just wants something fast for the street though. From what I’ve read SC sounds like a lot less headache, but this just looks so damn sexy (APS TT Kit)…

ugh…i  TT V8’s…

Just go with Lingenfelter: www.lingenfelter.com

or go with the MagnaCharger these kits are for caddy’s

that manifold makes me want to cry…space limitations suck, too bad there’s no I-8 cuz then u can bust out some sick tubular Equal-Length ishhhhhhh

i think Andy 90na300zx point of viewis comming from his outlook on the Z where the turbos are crammed in his lil engine bay…all in all turbos are fun but I like low maintanence so I personally would go SC…I would take Bills advice and offer to sample both breeds of boost

You don’t want to sample the end result, you want to sample what it took to get to the end result. What he needs is someone to offer to let him help them do a turbo and a supercharger so he sees what goes into each.

personally i think SC whining sounds “cooler” when ur revving at someone than bov’ing…

altho the drive-by BOV snipe in an open window is pretty quality as well.

not to be OT or anything…

If you decide to supercharge - then I wouldn’t rule Vortech out either. Especially if you will be looking for a used one (which is a good idea considering you can find them in BRAND NEW shape for like 1/2 the price of a new one).

My Vortech was a nice complete kit, easy to install without any hassles, they make good power, and I haven’t had any trouble with it yet (this is my 3rd summer with it)

D1 Procharger, i know a few guys that run them and say they love them and have had 0 problems.

There ya go.

holy shit… it’s taking alot of self control to not snatch that up today. Both are amazing deals

nice deal w/ the Kooks headers, kooks is gude shit.

I like the procharger. That tt setup pictured would be a disaster to deal with. Vortech looks cool but from the pics I have seen it’s a real bitch (cutting ecm cover, removing engine covers, relocating coils, relocating ps cooler to make space for water tank, cooler, and pump, etc.)

Umm - don’t you have an '04? I saw these too, but passed because of that. Remember, the '05-'06 Goats have a different throttle setup, PCM tuning and header design.

I thought that the header configuration was the same (atleast engine side)? Are the ports/mounting locations different or would you just need a custom mid pipe made up?

Forgot about the throttle though… thanks for the heads up Julius

As for the headers, head-side flange is the same. Mid-pipe to cat-back isn’t.

Just a nugget of info…a friend of mine has a GTO. He had a Magnusion S/C kit and thought it was …ehh ok. He swapped it out for a Centrifugal blower kit intercooled(dont remember the name) but, he’s 10x’s happier. Its his ~summer~ daily driver and VERY happy with it now. In fact he’s been driving the car with the CSC for at least 3yrs now.
