proxes r888

Has anybody tracked r888 on here before? Yays…nays? Good in rain?

Eh I haven’t run them but I am considering them after my NT01s… if i go wider this year as there are more size choices…

People have been kinda iffy on them… some say yay some say nay… some swear by them others hate even putting them on their car after a few laps… there was supposedly problems with them for a while however from what i’ve read it mostly had to do with how people ran them hot tire pressures. They seem to also favour softer springrates as they are very stiff compared to RA1s according to what I’ve read… again not personal experience with them.

I love my NT01s… best tire I’ve run… and supposedly they use the same compound but a different pattern… at least that’s what internet rumors say… People said the same thing about RA1s being ‘the same compound’ but then others negating this rumor…

Not really helpful… but people that were running spec race series ran RA1s… went to R888s… then went back to RA1s… if I remember reading some crap recently in grassroots motorsports magazine… some series are going to mandate the r888… eh… and then again ra1s are a prett old tire now (heck even r888 is not very new its just new in north america). I am just considering them as they have more size offerings than NT01s… although I love the nt01… not many other choices in this tire class except full on shaved/non patterned slicks…

Google around and read people’s reviews pros and cons.

paul i got a pair of 295/30/18 with good thread still fresh soft

The R888 are great, after they’ve been worn down, whether you shave it down or track on it for a couple hours.

Ran it on Mosport track right after it rained and it was still gripping well. Of course not as good as a dry track.

I’d take the r888 over the rt615’s

A shaved or used up tire will always grip better  Unless is heat cycled to death heh… and rt-615 are street tires 200 (180?) threadwear while r888 are what 100 (or 80? i forget) threadwear r comps.

I didnt really like the azenis at all personally… when they heated up they gripped then as they heated up more they slipped like a mofo… also sucked with my car’s higher spring rates… its really just a street tire that can be run in short bursts imo… just from what I felt with it… never going back to a street tire or above 100 threadwear

Edit: Falken has released a new azeni with a new compound but same thread pattern for anyone cares. It’s supposedly a better tire (well it better be) addressing alot of past issues, however not going to bother like I said with anything above 100 threadwear.

Do you have a link in regards to Falken’s new Azeni tire?

I have a Set of 245

Awesome

Better than RA1’s

Great in dry, good in wet.

They are a little greasy when new. Needed to be worked in/shaved

R888’s and RT 615’s are NOT in the same league
